It affects no two people the same but people are usually affected by the same 3 main categories 'communication' 'social interaction' and 'social imagination'. Professionals refer to it as the Autistic spectrum as it is so varied.  Usually diagnosed during childhood however it can be hard to identify and may not be picked up on until adult hood. The study involved black and white pictures of eyes with 4 different emotions surrounding them. The participants would then have to state which emotion they felt matched the picture. 
In conclusion to this research, results provide evidence that adults with autism/AS do possess an impaired theory of mind.
