A white middle school teacher who has remained unidentified went on a rant in front of students stating that white people are the superior race. Students quickly went into action with asking questions like “So white is better than all?” where the teacher responded “I think everybody thinks that, they’re just not honest about it.”

A Tennessee teacher was fired for breaking the states critical race theory law by telling her students that she is black. The school board president stated that " Simply put, we cannot have a teacher in this school system poisoning our children’s minds with her belief that she is a Black woman...is making our white students feel like they’re inherently inferior."

School board president Dale Nevis stated “Our new laws are clear, because it’s a simple case of student safety. We do not want our teachers doing critical race theory in schools, whether that’s forcing students to hear evil theories like ‘My parents are Black,’ or whatever the other critical race theories are that are only meant to divide us.

When looking at both of these articles they are similar in the fact that two teachers where dismissed from their jobs because they stated things that went against certain guide lines within each of their school systems. However, if you look closely at how these situations where handled and how they where written in each article they are vastly different.

If you look at the titles of each article the way they where worded contributes to the intensity of how the readers will view each situation. When looking at the article about the white man the wording of "Texas teacher on leave" compared to the article about the black woman where the title says "Teacher Fired" makes us the reader think that the women had done something exceptionally wrong.

As well as looking at the situation itself the women said that she was black to her students. This had no correlation with the Tennessee critical race theory law because she never stated anything that connected with critical race theory. And what she said did not had any backlash from the students she was with. Were with the white teacher students openly expressed being upset with what the teacher said. Yet that white teacher was put on "administrative leave" where he could not be fired for what he said but the black women was immediately fired for saying something that did not even effect any of the students.

I believe these two articles show how people still view that white people have more wiggle room with their mistakes on race but people of color are automatically punished if they say anything about race that is "controversial". People should practice not just looking at who said what but what was the effect they had on the people that was around them.
