Baseball is considered one of the four major sports. Others include Basketball, Football and Hockey. Baseball falls under these simple rules; nine players in the field for defense, facing one batter at a time until you get 3 outs. Outs may be recorded by getting a "force" out at any one of the four bases. A "force out" is when you do not need to apply a tag to the runner because nobody is behind said runner. At the end of 9 innings the team with the most runs scored wins that game.

Baseball consists of two teams battling head to head. The team that scores the most runs in 9 innings of baseball, wins. An "inning" is consisted of two parts, the top and the bottom. One team bats and tries to score runs in the top and in the bottom half of the innings (the home team) tries to score as many runs as they can to try and win. There are 9 fielding positions, (see picture in "What is Baseball" for the list of them) and during a game people can be moved around although there are some rules that go along with doing so. There are many different aspects that go into baseball, especially now-a-days with all the technology in the game.

Analyzing the game of baseball can be very grueling to some and very exciting to others. Baseball can be broken down into four categories.

Hitting - Hitting is where most of the entertainment and enjoyment of the game for most come. It is the only chance at where you get to score runs.

Pitching - A pitcher is baseball is the one throwing the baseball to the hitter trying to make the batter get an out. There are many different types of pitches a pitcher can throw (see picture below).

Fielding - Fielding is the defense behind the pitcher also trying to get outs. If the pitchers pitch is hit onto the field of play it is the defenses job to try and make the out. One you get 3 outs, teams switch places until you reach 9 innings and you have a winner.

Technology - Technology has really come into baseball as a factor lately such as the last 10-15 years. You've seen some teams use what is called a "shift" which is basically where the defense shifts their fielders because the hitter may be known to go to one side or the other more.
