He was competing with other “low level people” entertainment. Originally, poems, plays and stories were written for small amounts of people, usually of higher class. Shakespeare wrote his plays with the idea of everyone experiencing it. During and after Shakespeare entertainment in the form of stories and plays transformed into an activity for a large audience.
