Britain was the first country to industrialize. Industrialization allowed factories to increase, urbanization occurred, and transportation improved. Since cities weren't prepared for the large population increase brought by urbanization, cities had poor trash collecting and bad sanitation. Richard Trevithick used steam power in order to create the first steam railway locomotive, which allowed more transportation. Thomas
Newcomen created the steam pump, which helped pump water out of coal mines.

The movement changed social order and production in different areas. Raw materials were able to be produced at a much faster rate. James Hargreaves created the spinning jenny that could spin many spindles at once and improve weaving. James Watt invented a steam engine that required less fuel to run, which was applied in transportation.

Industrialization brought a lot of people to cities. Unfortunately, cities had poor and dirty living conditions. Also, workers worked long hours for little pay. Alexander III thought of the Trans-Siberian Railroad, opened Siberia to exploitation, settlement, and further industrialization. The caterpillar track system was though up by Dmitry Zagryazhsky and was later applied to tanks in warfare. The grain harvester, created by Andrei Vlasenko, increased production of crops and raw materials and was later replicated in America.

India's lack of industrialization was due to their existence as a British colony. Since industrializing the area would cause competition and conflict between colonizers and the colonized, Britain didn't bring industrialist ideologies to India. Britain's industrial advantage compared to India led to imperialism in the area, which was consolidated under British rule. Superior weaponry and transportation was available to the British. The purpose of Britain ruling India was to take advantage of the raw materials and trade contacts that could improve British economy. Raw materials provided by Indians included cotton and wool used for clothing. Indians also provided sugar for the British population.

Early on, places in Africa didn't receive industrialist ideas and technology. The main purpose of Egypt for Europeans was a producer of raw materials when controlled by the British. During this period, much of the land remained in use for the production of agricultural products. Egypt was known for their production of cotton. They also produced textiles that could be used in clothing. Industrialist ideologies didn't impact Egypt until the 1920's, which is much later than many other nations. The government observed other nations and introduced in an attempt to gain self sufficiency. The effects included many economic recessions, but also surplus of some resources were created in order to generate wealth. Since it industrialized so late, no new inventions came out of this period.
