In my personal life, I often partake in political acts of activism and campaigning. For years now I have been politically inclined to use my voice to attempt to fight for positive change within close communities and internationally too.

I personally use my art to escape the harsh reality of the world’s current political, social and economical crisis’, within this project I plan to step out of my comfort zone and realise new potentials for the narrative of my personal craft.

 
Within the project I hope to interact and create work with a range of different people with different creative disciplines and who come from all walks of life. I enjoy learning and understanding different perspectives and point of views on many subjects and hope that working with others won't only enable me to create work collaboratively but also enable me to work differently all together.

We’re all roughly the same age and live in the same area, and are all creative students too.

We all get on well and I'm looking forward to seeing how the group progresses.

We spoke and brainstormed and evolved my initial idea into a solid idea that we all resonate with and relate to.

we changed the community aspect to something we could all relate to and decided to do it about found objects around our student community instead.

I'm happy with the changes and I'm exited with how its going so far.

Smoking – the history and evolution of smoking and what people use to smoke.

Lost and found objects – objects discarded/lost and found by others and the journey those objects take.

Sustainability – how our generation are striving for a more sustainable future yet using unsustainable items.

Student politics – commenting on the current political situation surrounding students and strikes.

Poverty – looking at how a large portion of student culture is poverty, which we all relate on.

Thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign with The Art Fund, Manchester Art Gallery commissioned Allchurch to make a new work for their collection based on the painting Albert Square, Manchester, 1910 by French Impressionist Adolphe Valette (1876-1942). Valette, who lived and worked in Manchester for many years, painted atmospheric views of the city, which are a favourite with residents and visitors alike. His works capture the essence of Manchester at the turn of the 20th century, in the process of transition to a modern city. Allchurch’s re-creation reveals Manchester as the vibrant, multi-cultural city it is today, with references to the legendary music scene and yet still resonating with echoes of its historic past.  

A Unique Transparency on LED lightbox has been made for Manchester Art Gallery’s permanent collection (156.4 x 120.4 x 8.3 cm) to match the size of the original painting by Adolphe Valette.

The two works were hung side by side throughout her exhibition, ‘In the Footsteps of a Master’, in 2015 – Allchurch’s first UK solo show in a major public museum."
