I picked this profession because I’ve always had my heart set on me becoming a teacher. I remember being asked in preschool during an assembly the question “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and me responding with “a teacher.” I loved teaching my nieces with a mock classroom in my living room and I have always been passionate about teaching others. I hope to get out of this class a refresher as to why I chose this profession and a new viewpoint as to why I should continue.

My why, is being able to see my students succeeding in the classroom and knowing that I played a role in that. My hope to get out of this class is to be the best possible teacher that I can be for my future students.

I have always wanted to help people and I found I loved working with kids. So from playing school as a kid to now I always wanted to be a teacher.

In this class,

I hope to understand the reality of a teacher and more behind the scenes such as families and students background and the more personal level behind teaching besides from the specific curriculum taught in schools. I think connection and understanding background and interests and etc will also help classroom management and the overall environment of the classroom.

I wanted to become a teacher because I love kids and I want to help them succeed. I hope to get a better understanding of different teaching styles and become the best teacher I can be for my students.

The children are my “why”. They are kind, honest, sweet, and are full of information. I feel we learn more from children than they do us. No matter how tired I am or unhappy I may feel, working with the students instantly change those feelings. I’m not sure what I would like from this class. Maybe help with writing professional emails to colleagues and parents. How to negotiate my contract.

I didn’t have teachers that looked like me, and because I didn’t look like them plenty of times I was implicitly and explicitly told I wasn’t enough. But I’ve also had a few teachers who did believe in me and my capability and pushed me to be the best student I could be. I want to pay it forward, I want to be a teacher who supports their students, challenges them, and push them to be not just the best student they can be but the best person they can be.

From this class I hope to become a better and stronger teacher in areas where I lack confidence, like dealing with parents and the political side of being a teacher.

I picked this profession because as a student I was in BSI. Being in BSI made me feel not smart enough. I always felt anxious in the classroom. I hated being pulled out of the class for intervention because everyone in my class knew where I was going. BUT I loved my BSI teachers so much and I felt they always supported me. They always made me feel like I was good enough and smart enough. I want to be a teacher that makes student feel the same way my BSI teachers made me feel. I never want my students to feel left out, not smart enough, or not comfortable.

I chose to be a teacher because this is what I’ve wanted since I was 5. I’ve always had the passion and it has never died out. I’m motivated to graduate as I will be a first generation graduate, but I’m more so motivated to become a full time teacher. I want to be the one to make a difference in students’ lives and to be a safe space for them. Every child deserves to have someone they can trust and rely on. I want that to be me. I could have used a teacher like that when I was younger, so I learned how important it is to be that for other children.

In this class, I hope to learn how to handle certain situations in the classroom such as what to do if a child needs help at home but they aren’t getting it. How could the school still support them? I want to learn more ways to just be there for students on top of educating them.

I perused this profession because of my mom! She was my motivation to do so, and raising both of my siblings reflected the love I have for children and the drive and motivation I now have to teach and understand those going through rough times!
What I expect from this class is to better feel understood and heard whenever I have rough moments while student teaching! And understand many perspectives

Why?

Becoming a teacher just what feels right to me, as easy as that sounds it’s true. Whether it’s from my personality or people around me telling me that I have that “teacher spark” within me. Whatever it is, I know that I was made to influence children to love learning and to see education as a privilege.

In this class, I would love to learn more about teaching as a whole. As well as learning from my peers and their experiences.

1) My why is all the memorable and impactful experiences I have had teaching and being around children. I have learned so much and experienced so much joy babysitting, coaching, being a camp counselor, and substitute teacher that has lead me to this career path.

I want to be a teacher because I had a great teacher in my life who was selfless and taught me for free. I learned that you can't put a price on education. It should be free and accessible to everyone. I also did same for many few people, I taught them for free.

I wanted to learn more about American education system and how it runs different or similar to different countries. What can be improved in our education system and what should we focus on as a teacher.

I decided to become a teacher because growing up I knew working with children was something that I always wanted to do. I considered being a pediatrician but medicine was never really something that stuck with me. I knew that i wanted to work with children more hands on. So, I tutored and worked at camps and I found enjoyment in that. Also, I decided to become a teacher because of the teachers I had in my elementary schools. Most of them lived in my community and I seen how passionate, caring and supportive they were of every student in the class. They made the learning environment and process of learning enjoyable and rewarding. I want to be able to give back to my own community and create a difference in my students lives anyway I can. I look forward to gaining the experience and necessary knowledge to teach my students effectively but also have fun in my journey.

I decided to become a teacher because from the very beginning education was prioritized in my household, as my mother completed college and my father dropped out of high school in 10th grade to provide for his family. Growing up, my mother always encouraged me to become whatever I wanted to be. My mother told me I could be anything I wanted to be and I knew I was meant to be a teacher. In school I did not excel in reading and writing and oftentimes did not feel intelligent. However, I loved school. I plan on fostering a love for learning and emphasize the importance of a warm and welcoming environment in which ALL children will be celebrated. Children remember EVERYTHING! and at the end of the day, they remember how you made them feel.

Regarding what I will learn from this class, I plan on learning from the diverse experiences from my peers and how I can become the best teacher.

In 7th grade I had a teacher who inspired me. I was in special education, I had severe behavioral problems, I had no semblance of a plan or defined sence of self and while my grades were good, I struggled.

During this year though, I had a teacher named Mrs. Zahn who helped me in ways no other teacher was willing to before. She saw me as a person, would ask and try to understand why I’d get upset, and explain why sometimes it’s alright to fail.

While I could write more, I simply want to say that she inspired me to do the same she did with me to those who come after. To pay it forward to those kids like me who never had anyone give them a chance.

I want to be the best teacher I can be, and hopefully through this class, I might be able to refine my teaching skills, ask questions, and help kids similar to myself at a young age to realize they are people deserving of respect.
