    He is also trying to get a 3.5 Trillion budget bill for climate change 

    Obama had America join the Paris Climate Agreement in April of 2016 

    In 2001, the Bush Administration announced that America would not join the Kyoto Protocol. The Kyoto Protocol was an international treaty signed in Kyoto that required nations to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. 

    Obama created an environmental plan that proposed the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. This plan was creatively named the Climate Action Plan.

    My story is whether or not climate change can be reversed. It seems that we are getting to a point of no return and that even if we put a permanent ban on all carbon emissions worldwide right now, it wouldn't stop the problem. 

    2.) How does the government (local, state, federal, etc.) contribute to the issue I'm studying?

    The branches of the federal government could impact my issue of climate change in different ways. The Legislative branch could create and pass laws that place restrictions or bans on carbon emissions. The Executive branch could create executive orders as a short-term solution as the Legislative goes through the law-making process. The Judicial branch could settle cases between states regarding emissions of carbon and fossil fuels. 

    3.) Who are the stakeholders involved in my issue? In other words, who is impacted by my issue? Who is working to address my issue? Who is fighting to resist changes regarding policy surrounding my issue?

    Everyone. Everyone will be affected in one way or another. The increase in heatwaves will cause crops to die. The rising sea levels will flood coastal cities. The higher hurricane rate will destroy parts of the world. Many groups have formed and are working to address the issue of the rising climate. Groups such as 350 Bay, Save the Bay, The Marine Mammal Center, The Greenbelt Alliance, and SF Environment just to name a few in the Bay Area alone. There are a depressing number of people who think the rising climate is natural or a hoax. Some people don't want fossil fuels to be replaced, mainly because the other options are too expensive, or could have negative side effects. 

    4.) Who are important people and organizations that deserve mention in my segment of the podcast?

    350 Bay, The Marine Mammal Center, Save The Bay. These are the organizations that I interviewed.

    5.) What are tactics that changemakers are using to address my issue? What are the tactics that resisters are using to stymie change regarding my issue?

    People are coming up with ideas on how to stop and hopefully reverse the effects of climate change. One of these is something you may not have heard of, geoengineering. 

    6.) What are the most interesting things I've learned as a result of my research? What do I absolutely want to include in my segment?

    There is still hope that the effects of climate change can be reversed. There are many ways to replace fossil fuels, but people either see them as too costly or dangerous. I also want to bring up geoengineering and other possible solutions to climate change. 

    7.) What changes, if any, would I like to see as a result of the research I've done?

    I would like to see change happen in the next couple of years instead of waiting until 2050. I would like to see people talk more about the benefits of replacing fossil fuels with sources such as nuclear energy.

This story is important to me because it's a big reason why our climate is in such danger, and why it's changing rapidly. It should be important to others because this issue has to be fixed in order for our planet to survive.

    The government is in charge of the number of fossil fuels that they allow to be used, and they decide the restrictions that they put on large companies who produce the most fossil fuels.

    3.) Who are the stakeholders involved in my issue? In other words, who is impacted by my issue? Who is working to address my issue? Who is fighting to resist changes regarding policy surrounding my issue?

    Everyone on the earth is impacted by my issue, and there are many scientists and climate change activists working to address it. The people who are fighting to resist changes are the big companies that need to use fossil fuels to make their products, as well as those who don't believe in climate change.

    350 Bay Area is definitely an organization that I should mention in my segment of the podcast because I did an interview with them and they are focusing on my main topic (greenhouse gasses and fossil fuels). Important people that I could mention are people in office who are either working towards or against my issue.

    5.) What are tactics that changemakers are using to address my issue? What are tactics that resisters are using to stymie change regarding my issue?

    The lawmakers and changemakers who actually believe in the issue of climate change and global warming are trying to get laws passed and create protests in order to spread awareness. However, change is difficult because of those who resist and actively fight against climate change activists.

    6.) What are the most interesting things I've learned as a result of my research? What do I absolutely want to include in my segment?

    I've learned a lot about how those in power affect the environment, and that even one person in power not believing in climate change can completely ruin the earth.

    I'm not sure if any changes will happen just from my research, but I think if the information was spread widely enough, it could hopefully encourage others to use different kinds of fuel that would be less harmful to the environment

    The government has contributed by making alliances such as the Paris Accord, and made bills and laws regulating gases that are causing global warming. However, they can still do a lot if there weren't a lot of political polarization. 
    3.) Who are the stakeholders involved in my issue? In other words, who is impacted by my issue? Who is working to address my issue? Who is fighting to resist changes regarding policy surrounding my issue?
    Some of the people who have made an impact on climate change have been presidents, such as President Richard Nixon, although he was impeached for the watergate scandal, he still did make an impact on climate change. 
    4.) Who are important people and organizations that deserve mention in my segment of the podcast?
    Some people that are important are President Richard Nixon, President Obama, and some organizations are Nasa, Bay Area Ridge Trail.

    Some things that change makers were doing in the past has been rallying and protesting, and coming together to peacefully protest. The evolution of the protesting has gone from protesting at beaches to organizations organizing protests at city halls. Resisters over the years have changed too, originally completely ignoring or downplaying climate change to making bills to work around things that have been put in place. 
    6.) What are the most interesting things I've learned as a result of my research? What do I absolutely want to include in my segment?
    Somethings that are interesting that I have learned have been what has congress done and what people have done in the past. Such as people predicting that climate change was going to happen back in the 1800s. Something I absolutely would like to put in is the activists of the past and the activists now fighting for climate change.

    A more organized and structured thought process of my research.

    I want my story to be about recycling and co2 emissions and the more concrete ways to help the environment. I don't want to get political and I want to help everyday people find out what they can do about climate change.

    The laws local and federal governments make are crucial to how this issue gets solved. WIth laws and regulations, we can force co2 emissions down.

    The local SF governments are crucial in the recycling laws they pass. But we need large-scale federal laws if we really want to help reduce emissions. 

    3.) Who are the stakeholders involved in my issue? In other words, who is impacted by my issue? Who is working to address my issue? Who is fighting to resist changes regarding policy surrounding my issue?

    The whole population is affected by climate change, the people and lawmakers are working to make change while big corporations that only care about money are trying to stop climate regulations.

    4.) Who are important people and organizations that deserve mention in my segment of the podcast?
    I would say the two people I interviewed and the companies/ websites they work for really target climate change in the Bay Area. I would also mention big names like great Thunberg and Gavin Newson for the huge impact they have had.

    5.) What are tactics that changemakers are using to address my issue? What are tactics that resisters are using to stymie change regarding my issue?

    Changemakers are trying to raise awareness of recycling issues by talking about how to cycle correctly. And changemakers are trying to pass laws that will help with recycling regulations. Resistors are usually big companies with a lot of money who are influencing lawmakers. 

    6.) What are the most interesting things I've learned as a result of my research? What do I absolutely want to include in my segment?

    "According to the EPA, of the 267.8 million tons of municipal solid waste generated by Americans in 2017, only 94.2 million tons were recycled or composted." 
    This quote was in one of the first articles I read and I instantly became curious about why that is and what we can do about that.

    7.) What changes, if any, would I like to see as a result of the research I've done?

    I would like to see people getting more knowledgeable about recycling and where to sort things and how our recycling affects the environment.

    8.) Where are there gaps/holes in my research? What new information do I need to seek out and discover before I begin drafting my script?

    I need to figure out what my message to the listener should be. My interview with the SF environment had some great things that I couldn't find on a website about specific things that high school students could do about the issue.
