In this advertisement there are many strong examples of repetition, addition and omission. The advertisers began the commercial with what seemed to be a normal day, kids out in the neighborhood, along with a few other adults running errands and what not. It may not seem like much at first, but these people are put in the commercial to relate to as many families as possible. Whether it was a mother and daughter, husband and wife, father and daughter, or a young boy riding a bicycle, the creators of this commercial wanted watchers to relate on a personal level. Emotional appeal plays in enormous role in getting a message across with power. There were many additions that I noticed, but some of them were somewhat hidden. For example, the little girl in the back of the car insisted on bringing her doll with her upon their departure from their home. Just one moment was able to catch the attention of many mothers whose daughter needs a companion in their car seat whether it’s a doll, blanket or toy. Other noteworthy additions similar to the doll are the girls jump roping, the woman watering her flowers, and the man walking his dog. Although the advertisers included the initial reaction to the accident, they omitted the aftermath very purposefully. This was due to their way of explaining that these situations can be avoided very simply. I believe this commercial did a fantastic job of executing their strategies in order to mesmerize the watchers.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtQ9H1MrrPo
