Beautiful Hadith

1) Keeping the environment sanitary remain constant in the community

"Beware of the three acts that cause you to be cursed: [1] relieving yourselves in shaded places (that people utilise), in a walkway or in a watering place." - Narrated by Mu`adh, hasan, by Al-Albani

-This hadith shows us that 'tahara' which id hygiene and cleanliness is very important in our lives as a Muslim. For example, before prayer we must keep ourselves clean before perform the prayer. It is also prevent us from getting sickness. One of the SDGs that related to this is SDG 3 which is Good Health and Well-being

2) Consider recycling and fixing before buying new items

When asked about how the Prophet used to live in his house, the Prophet's wife, `A'ishah, said that he used to repair his own shoes, sew his clothes and carry out all such household chores done without complaint or want for more. (Authenticated by Al-Albani).

This practice showed that simple tasks like mending and repairing were not beneath the Prophet ﷺ. In fact, by fixing his own shoes and sewing his clothes, he taught us that these acts are dignified and empowering—not signs of poverty or weakness. Instead of constantly seeking new things, the Prophet ﷺ reminded us that true strength lies in contentment, self-reliance, and conscious consumption. We don’t need excess to live meaningfully—we just need gratitude and responsibility, and we can relate it with SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

I know that people nowadays know about the important to take care of the environment even though they do not know about the existence of SDG,but they ignore it because some of them follow their desire more without thinking deeply the impact of the actions. In Malaysia, we already have been taught in primary school about environment, we also learn how to create an essay about it in Secondary school but as we grow older we little by little forget about it. This is because human tent to regret the blessing until it go away from us just like in the Quran in Surah Ar-Rahman There are repeated phrase "Then which of the favors of your Lord will you deny?" (فَبِأَيِّ آَلاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ) encourages believers to appreciate and acknowledge God's gifts. So, when we already aware about it, we need to keep constant and start from ' DAY 1 NOT 1 DAY'.

I am really glad that I geew up from a village from Johor because when I moved to Gombak to gain more knowledge in IIUM I feel like one my blessing to breath in fresh air got pull away , I do not say that IIUM not have fresh air but it is different with my hometown.. My home surrounded by palm tree and 1 km behind my house is a sea that fisherman always go fishing there so it is different but Alhamdulillah that IIUM emphasize the sustainability as a moto so that the student aware with it. On the other hand, I also glad that family emphasize the important of sustainability in our home because at my home spread the rubbish that can be dispose or not.. The rubish that can easily dispose we assume it as fertilizer to the tree that my family planted around the house and the and the rubbish that can not easily repost we burn it, also there is an uncle that always drive lorry that take second hand things so we sell the recycle things to that uncle and get money from it.. At the same time in a while, my mother is a teacher so her school will held recycle day every once in 6 month to collect clothes or books or thing that can be recycle to sell it to the recycle company and the family that have the heaviest recycle things will have a little bit of the money. Alhamdulillah my surrounding is aware about the essential of sustainability in their daily lives.

One of the reasons we can keep our khushu in salah is by taking wudu' seriously. In the class,we talk about the definition of taharah, alternative to water (tayammum). The best part is we get to play with powder as we learn how to perform tayammum. Lastly, we learn about salah jama' and qasar also salah nawafil. At the end of the class, we need to answer the question with true or false.

Just like Salah, Sawm also has its own virtue and ways to make it more meaningful and closer to Allah. Sister Adlina share in her slide that the spirit of Sawm has 3 virtue. First, Sabr. It is because when we fasting there are so many challenges we need to face such as hunger, manage mood swings, resist temptation to eat and to gossip. Second, Takrim like tajdid our niyyah and eating suhoor as it is one of the sunnah from Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Third, Rahmah means friendliness. For example, we can go mosque hunting we our friend and breaking the fast together.
