         <description><![CDATA[<div>Invented in 1885, Coke was originally developed as a medicine to treat a variety of illnesses (including morphine addiction). It was marketed as “the temperance drink” in response to prohibition laws in Atlanta, allowing a social alternative to alcohol. <br><br></div><div>It was sold in pharmacies for a nickel ($1.39 in 2021), making it affordable for consumers. It wasn’t bottled in factories until 1894, so you had to be in an urban environment to enjoy it.  </div>]]></description>
