During his younger life, his parents were unmarried. Leonardo was treated as the legitimate son and got the usual education at the time. Leonardo didn’t study Latin, which was a key language of traditional learning. Instead, he developed the language on his own. Also, he decided to not put himself into advanced classes, such as mathematics and arithmetic until he was 30 years old. When he was about 15 he received a multifaceted training that included painting and sculpture as well as technical-mechanical arts. A few years went by and Leonardo was accepted into the painters’ guild of Florence.
(Leonardo da Vinci).

Da Vinci also created the Mona Lisa, setting the standard for all future paintings. The painting presents a woman revealed in the 21st Century. “The expressive synthesis that Leonardo achieved between sitter and landscape has placed this work in the canon of the most-popular and most-analyzed paintings of all time”. This painting reflects Leonardo’s idea of linking nature and humanity.
(Katherine Gould) (Art History with Doug DePice: Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa).

Demonstrations and techniques during the Renaissance period

Leonardo exemplifies the era of the Renaissance by how he made systematic observations of the flight of birds. Even his hydrological studies, “on the nature and movement of water,” broadened into research on the physical properties of water, and the laws of currents, which he compared with those pertaining to air. He also demonstrated a technique of perspective by using a three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional surface. This caused other artists to follow his techniques to hopefully become an amazing artist just like Leonardo.

(Leonardo Da Vinci) (How to emulate Leonardo da Vinci's metalpoint drawing techniques).
