Our first session acted as an introductory lesson to the multimedia studio module. We went over the four main components of our first assignment and briefly touched on the rest of the year. In our groups we then began to brainstorm ideas in order to add them to our padlet and also started an individual padlet to begin blogging our work.

In our session this week, we began to brainstorm ideas for our drinking vessel. This included researching what sort of features our vessels could include and sketching potential designs that could include these features. For example, a drinking vessel that reminds you when to drink using an alarm. Also a smart cup that can heat up you liquid / keep your liquids cold and a cup that can't be knocked over to avoid spillages and wasting your drink.

This week we began to shortlist our drinking vessels in groups and decide what route we wanted to take. We also began looking in to the infographic we will be designing, giving images and information about our drinking vessel. With my group we decided that our vessel would be a cup that tells you when to drink in order to not get dehydrated. It features a clock and an alarm to alert you as and when you need to drink.

Experimenting with the various tools available on SketchUp, we began designing a 3D printable prototype of our cup. Later in the process we will decide which one we like the most in order to get it sent off for 3D printing.

In our 6th session of the semester we started planning our video production, going over what would need to be done pre and post-production as well. As part of our pre-production, in our groups we discussed ideas and made multiple storyboards based on these ideas. As a group and using the information given to us in the lecture (structures for our video etc.) we drew out multiple storyboards that we will revisit in order to create our final production piece. We also took a brief look at the equipment we would be using for our video production; cameras, tripods, separate audio recorders etc.

This weeks session was shorter than previous weeks. there was nothing new shown to us or that we had to start on this week. Instead our course was split in to 2 groups, one for the first half of the session and one for the second half. As there was nothing new to go over, instead we spent this weeks session going over previous work, making sure we were up to speed and getting help on anything we needed to complete our assignment.

During this session we began discussing video editing and using effects such as green screens. Whilst there is no specific software we have to use, we were looking at Adobe Premiere Pro in the lecture. As I have used this previously this will be the software that I choose to use to edit my video. My group's 3D model was ready for us in this session so we began taking photos and filming short clips of the vessel. The clips / photos were mainly taken in front of the green screen for later editing.

After filming throughout the week prior, this weeks session was used to begin post production editing on Adobe's Premiere Pro. I cut and trimmed a few clips and added some transitions to begin with. I also added some keying effects in order to place my 3D model over a different backdrop. This was done with the clips filmed in front of the green screen (original shown on previous post). I think my video is making good process already, I am planning to record more footage and some audio to be used as a voiceover soon.

With all my filming and audio recorded, this week I have began exploring Premiere Pro more in order to efficiently edit my video and audio clips. I think that it is coming together nicely and will be done in plenty of time to complete my assignment with spare time to revisit what I have done throughout the year before submission. I have been going through previous work already in order to complete my Graphic Design assignment, based around this module.
