In these experiments, Harlow isolated young rhesus monkeys, depriving them of their mothers and keeping them from interacting with other monkeys. Maier were conducting experiments that involved conditioning dogs to expect an electrical shock after hearing a tone. Seligman and Maier observed some unexpected results.7When initially placed in a shuttle box in which one side was electrified, the dogs would quickly jump over a low barrier to escape the shocks. Next, the dogs were strapped into a harness where the shocks were unavoidable.After being conditioned to expect a shock that they could not escape, the dogs were once again placed in the shuttlebox. Instead of jumping over the low barrier to escape, the dogs made no efforts to escape the box. Instead, they simply lay down, whined and whimpered. 2) The experiment could cause a permanent fear of the colour white (The experimenters may not have known how or been able to reverse the effects).

They had no choice to opt out, etc, they were forced into an experiment that had no benefit to them. The experiment only had negative based outcomes for the monkeys and resulted in intense trauma and stress related behaviours. The cruel nature of this experiment created my perspective of it being unethical.

He did this to see if they could live without their mother and he replaced them with a soft cloth figure and a tin one,The monkeys suffered from negative outcomes from this experiment  while they were locked in cages.

Instead they shocked the poor dog multiple times without his consent for there own personal gain.
