Students can develop prejudices if they live or go to a school somewhere that is not very diverse, so being educated about different countries and cultures can help with countering discriminatory stereotypes. Teaching about different cultures in high school will allow students to make connections from their own lives to the lives of their peers through the understanding of different backgrounds, which in turn allows students to be empathetic to the experiences of others.
