A colleague completes a task, and the other party feels pressured (unintentional). E.g. A teacher completes portfolio, but partner hasn't completed hence this adds to conflicting pressure. Solution: Perhaps have a collaborative discussion with partner on a deadline, and explain that meanwhile it could be done OTOT as they work on it, so that partner doesn't feel pressured at the end, only to find out that it has been done.

Teachers conducting music lessons in their own classroom (in an open concept preschool) instead of the music room. They argue that there are other classes using the room. Solution: have a timetable for the common spaces. Encourage Teachers to communicate beforehand and give a heads up.

The 2 teachers of the same class have a different idea when setting up the classroom . For example when setting up a classroom, the teachers have different ideas and perspective on how they would like to place the furnitures. Both of them have difficulty communicating their ideas across. The solution would be that the teachers can split the classroom up and each of them can set up a different section or area of the classroom.

Both English and Chinese teachers share a classroom. Learning corners are tasked to be integrated (on a thematic basis). Adopting the same classroom would imply that both Eng & Chi teachers have differing views and ideas as they set up their corners as well as communicating the materials to be used.

Solution:
- Find a time to discuss and clarify how learning corners can be integrated (for e.g., an activity can be used for both lessons as they are translated billingually etc).

- Split and rotate the tasks between Eng & Chi teachers. E.g., dividing the activities? dividing the corners?

If all else fails (which should not be the case, because communication is key!)

Split the class = Eng and Chi teachers will take charge of their own learning corners and curate own activities.

A CL teacher prefer to communicate with parents verbally, through phone calls. She feels that information can be passed faster and more directly with this method, and due to language barriers.

Her partner on the other hand, EL teacher prefers to communicate through text messages with parents as she feels that it is important to record down information black and white to prevent any form of miscommunication.

As such, the EL teacher is not updated enough of children's issues when communicated with parents and requires constant asking from the CL teacher. This eventually becomes a problem.

Solution:
- Both has its pros and cons, no best method
- Come to a compromise by doing both methods or at least make an effort to update each other whenever they communicate with parents since both are in charge of the class.

Conflict : All of the English teachers in the Centre need to submit certain reports at the end of each week. A teacher submit her report on time each time, indirectly making the others feel incompetent and inefficient. Principal always make comparison , "why this teacher can submit, why you cannot". This has resulted in resentment and anger in the other teachers. Hence, they hated on the teacher for being consistently punctual in her submissions.
Solution : To organize a collaborative meeting to discuss on the dates clearly, where every teachers is comfortable in, as long as it is within the period of submission.

When teachers are instructed to set up their classrooms according to the upcoming term’s themes, its time crunching and the pressure is on. As the quality of classroom set ups will determine the classroom observation grading, which also affects the performance bonus and year-end appraisal, many teachers will step up their game. When a particular classroom stands out, meets all the requirements and is well liked by the Principal, that Teacher will then be praised and acknowledged. Others will be envious and have negative thoughts and assumptions. This will then bring up unnecessary conflicts and later bring down the team’s morale.

Solution: Principal should instill teamwork right from the beginning. 2 weeks before crunch time, have a meeting to discuss ideas. Gain input from each and every teacher for every level’s theme. Everyone can work together to brainstorm the resources needed and prep-work can be delegated equally amongst assistant teachers and interns to offer help and quicken the process, lightening the load and pressure off class teachers. “Teamwork makes the dream work!”
