I believe that people are naturally good.

I believe that everything in life happens is all by chance. I don't believe in things such as fate or destiny. Although it is a nice concept, I believe in free will, that people are in charge of their own lives. Incidents where it seemed to be “fate” are only coincidences in my point of view. For example, meeting someone who will later be important in your life may be seen as fate. However the choices you’ve made so far that led you to meet this person is free will and was because of your own actions, not destined.

Five values people should hold is open-mindedness, adaptability, communication, empathy, and kindness. People often grow up with the same values and beliefs, causing it to be difficult when someone is faced with something that challenges his or her own. Those who are closed-minded are held back by their own personal bias and prejudices. However, being open-minded allows you to find out new things and see from others perspectives. Adaptability is also a key value. In life, challenges and change frequently occur in one's life. Those who struggle with dealing with challenges may feel hopeless and be unable to cope with such situations. Being able to adapt will allow you to be able to bounce back from failures and be more flexible with everyday life. Communication enables people to form relationships and help understand other's emotions. Being able to empathize is what makes people human. By putting yourself in other people's shoes, you are able to share the other party's emotions. Lastly, kindness is one of the most important values in life. A simple act of kindness could impact someone's life. Because everyone is fighting their own battles, it's important to make an effort to be compassionate towards others.

Five inappropriate behaviors that people should avoid is excessive lying, manipulation, playing the victim, being judgemental, and having a sense of entitlement. When it comes to lying, there's a thin line between hiding a surprise birthday party and lying for no specific reason. A person who is dishonest would only create a barrier with those who are close to them. People who are manipulative would make their close friends feel like they owe them something. Manipulative people trick others into doing something for their own benefit. By playing the victim, they refuse to own up to their actions. When blamed or accused, they twist the situation to make it seem as if they were the victim in the first place. Although everyone is judgemental to a certain degree, it is unethical to judge someone based on factors such as looks. Those who THINK they are entitled to things, such as the right to have something, believe that they are the center of the world. Having the attitude of assuming that the world owes them something causes the person to have personal and relationship problems.

Although cliche, I believe the goal in life is to pursue happiness and to live with meaning. We often get so distracted and caught up in life with work and the goal of becoming wealthy, we forget to take a step back and enjoy the moment.
