The set up for the audience - in the end we decided against headphones because it meant that only two people could view at a time and also the noise from the other films wasn't as overbearing as we had anticipated.

The makeshift box room we made was very immersive especially because of the sheet at the doorway. I think that although only a few people could come in at a time, it made viewing the films more intimate.

The antique aesthetic made by the grainy filters on top of the film gives a creepy found footage vibe. This contrasted with the haunting, chanting soundtrack really makes the film unsettling but also hypnotising. The way that the film is structured as a kind of story keeps the audiences attention.

I love the overlaying of different textures and images - especially the way they overlayed images on top of video footage. It was an interesting way of creating something original from secondary imagery. The soundtrack is fitting and emulates a mystical deep sea atmosphere. I like the technique elliot used of printing shots from a video and manually animating them.
The text screens were beautiful and intriguing.

Trainspotting

Shows character first and then voice - means we know that it is that character's voice.
This was an insight rather than creating confusion or fear as the other clips did.
Feet running synchronised to the music.

Repetition in Voice , (Koyaanisqatsi)

Starts slow and then speeds up.

Possession in horror films

Voice coming out of someone it doesn't match.

Unison

Chanting, multiple voices saying the same thing.
Builds up tension / atmosphere.

Originally I was going to make film a full life cycle of a kiwi documentation - however when I began to expand from the original hatching segment, I found that the length of the film meant that the audience's attention would dwindle, and it lost the intensity of the original hatching video. So I decided to cut it back down again.

I made a verson with a short looping piece of audio I made on garageband but it was just distracting so i removed it and instead worked on improving the pacing of the audio clips

I enjoy how the noise begins before the film starts - sets the mood instantly but also leaves some curiosity and intrigue.
Lots of 'unintelligible' visuals - you don't really know what you are looking at some of the time.
Slow movement of shapes and repeating imagery eg. the eyes.
Imagery of the eyes is simplified in some scenes - just showing black circles moving in the same fashion.
Very hypnotising.

Animated
Looks as though its on a roll of continuously moving paper.
Interesting split of the screen - one side black and one side white.
The shapes that the patterns move into look very biological - like cells.
The patterns come to life at the end to create a whole creature, a slow build up of movement and form from the beginning with simple circles to a complex form.

I decided to show my film using a projector. I think that projecting onto a wall is just much cleaner aesthetically but also gave me more freedom about where I want to project. My small group decided to build a little square room for our projected films. I also had to consider the fact that my film is in a square format - so it would look messy on a rectangle tv screen.
