Our group used cross cutting to give the effect of time changing and changing the scene. I feel that this was effective because our audience understood that we were creating a different setting. We arranged our piece so that we would start in the present then flash back to the past and then cross cut to the future. I think this is effective because the audience only get the full picture at the end of the piece and want to know what happens so keep watching. This was effective because we could keep the audiences attention.

Miss Griffiths says:

Excellent, Niamh!

WWW: You have reflected on your use of cross cutting and have considered the impact on your audience.

Target: Think of a specific moment when you used cross cutting and the theatrical skills you used to create this moment on stage.

Literacy: Challenge yourself by using theatrical skills terminology throughout your reflections.

We have stated with a still image were there were two zombies attacking two scientist, after we have cross cut to the start . In the right beginning the scientist discuss what one of them found out about zombies were they suddenly hear some knocking but they and the audience don't who it is .I think that this starts to build the tension. This should grip the audience and keep them engaged to our performance.
D: The climax was built through using sound to introduce the element of fear.

Yatisha
POINT: Our group used alot of drama skills such as cross cutting, chorus, sound and our actions were big and you can tell what we were doing.
DESCRIBE: Our cross cutting was effective as the audience was able to know that we went back and forwards into time. We started of in present time, to explain what was going on, then we went back in time to show how the dad became a zombie. Then we traveled back to present time and then to the future. I think this use of cross cutting was effective as it helped the audience gain a image of what was going on and I think we could have worked on sound effects more.
EVALUATE: I think that we could have worked on our movements better and we didn't use that much sound effect. We could also work on our characters as it was hard what the characters were.

Miss Griffiths says:

Fantastic, Yatisha!

WWW: I can see you have used the PDE structure.

The skill we had used in the drama lesson was cross cutting which allowed transition to take place. This was effective as cross cutting allows the performers to change to scenes whether it being past, present or future. Our group had started with the future where zombies had taken over the world. This leads to the audience feeling and tense and questioning as to what happened and what cause this. Additionally, our group had used transition to indicate that we have moved onto a different scene by moving in unison and creating soundscape. This is effective as it shows that we are now in a different setting and time.

Miss Griffiths says:

Excellent, Raidah!

WWW: You have reflected on a moment where you used cross cutting and start to explain the impact on your audience.

Target: Think of a specific moment when you used cross cutting and the theatrical skills you used to create this moment on stage.

Literacy: Challenge yourself by using theatrical skills terminology throughout your reflections.

My group tried to really use climax in our drama piece to create suspence and also to give us high levels. To begin with we started with four people making the year 2017 with their body. I played an inspector, who walks around the "year" and says "2017 the year of the rise", by putting my hands in my pocket, making my voice low, subtle but rough to show that i am important and that i mean business. The reason that i only said "2017, the year of the rise" is so that i do not automatically give the story line or anything so it hooks the audience in. After this i clap my hands twice whilst having my back to the "year" and facing the audience.Reacting to the que of me clapping my hands, we all go to lay on the floor and rise with evil looks in our faces, march fowards three steps with our heads held high and then we all bow our heads and with our heads bowed we go back to the "year" but this time making it 1917 (100 years earlier) The reason we started in the future is to get the audience curious and get them building up possibilities in their minds. We the we make the "year" twirl and whilst doing that chalal comes to my side so that it is three people against one: the three zombies and the two humans. In slow motion we walk down stage with our backs towards the audience so that instead of the humans, the attention is on the zombies who are the people need more focus as it is mostly them who are creating the gothic atmosphere. Whilst being cornered we occasionally turn our heads towards the audience exaggerating our facial expressions to highlight the fear. Suddenly we all freeze and the two humans run through the gaps between the three zombies and face the zombies with faces of victory and pride. The two humans shout "EARTH BELONGS TO THE HUMANS YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS HERE AND NO WAY TO INVADE US" in low deep and raspy voices. We humans turn our backs to the zombies and and in slow motion we strut/ stroll away with glorious faces and the zombies stomp in time in the opposite direction really loudly with snarling, animal-like faces then all of a sudden the stomping stops and we all freeze to creating the highest point of the climax. The two humans turn around in slow motion with petrified faces. Still with their backs to the humans bellow "EXCEPT WE DON'T NEED ANYTHING TO DEFEAT YOU" and they turn around and quickly charge at us causing us to fall down and the bite us facing the audience with wide eyes and in slowmotion. And then we all dropped dead. We stay like that for ten seconds the we all get up in unison and go with pur heads bowed humming in to our old positions as 2017 and we replay the the first scene where we rise from the ground all as zombies with our gruesome blood-hungry faces with our faces held up high and we march forward in time for three steps and then we all bow our heads signalling the end to our performance.

I was the director to this act and i was very pleased with the outcome.

Miss Griffiths says:

Outstanding, Fiza!

my group used climax very well, you could tell when something important or exciting was about to happen and it made it clear to the audience what was going on. for example when we were running from the zombies, we did it in slow motion and in silence but it was still clear to the audience what was going on. our performance did not last that long but it was still effective .

The skills that my group used were cross-cutting, slow motion and miming. We used these skills so that we were able to create a climax. This was effective because we were able to tell the past, present and future and it grabs the viewers attention and it makes them wonder how it ends or starts.
My group decided to show the present first by starting in a freeze frame/still image. We then used cross-cutting and went back into the past. From that point we continued our drama which built up to the climax. At this moment we used miming and slow motion. This created tension in the audience.
This was effective because it all builds up to the top of the mountain which is either expected or out of nowhere. This makes the audience want to know more and it makes them eager and tense or excited. This is not only effective in the piece itself but also as pupils who study drama it allows us to engage with our inner character.

Miss Griffiths says:

Excellent, Sukhveer!

WWW: You have used the PDE structure and this has allowed you to write a well structured paragraph.

Our group used cross cutting which was very effective as well as good use of climax to add more tension to the drama piece and make it more interesting. The use of cross cutting made the piece of drama more interesting as it added more mystery and suspense to the piece. The order we started in was future, past and then present. we thought that this order would be most successful as starting with the future makes the audience confused and makes them more interested, the we move on by starting from the beginning and explain what is happening in the past which makes the present link to the story line as it runs along smoothly. Our use of climax was almost successful as the person that appears from behind, startling both the character and the audience, makes the audience feel on edge. Overall, I think the drama piece would have been successful if we got the opportunity to preform and the group communication and co-operation was stronger.

Miss Griffiths says:

Fantastic, Bassma!

WWW: I can see you have used the PDE structure. Cross cutting is effective because it shows different parts of a story shown in a different order and this makes the piece interesting for the audience to watch and makes them want to watch more because they would want to know what happened before that scene or after that scene.
The post without the name was mine as I forgot to put my name on it.

A special and key moment that we have used cross-cutting was when we were traveling in the car and the children noticed to bite on the fathers hand so then we cross-cutter back to when the father got bitten. I think that this is effective because it gives the audience a clearer understanding as to what happend and so that later on in the play, they wouldn't be confused. He theatrical skills that we have used were projection, tone and chorus. In my opinion our group performed well as a team, however I feel that we could have done better as in change the story around a bit, and making it more engaging to the audience. We could have added more shocking mommets like when the car stopped we all slow-motionly pushed ourselves forward then quickly back. This was effective as the audience was more engaged as it was more interesting.
I think I completed my homework....

Thank you for your response Mrs Griffiths. I will remember to not use the audience as the 'viewer'. The specific drama skills that I developed as a performer are facial expressions and the tone of voice. In my drama piece, I showed the use of facial expressions and tone in my voice when I had a chance to react and say a dialogue. This gave the audience a chance to understand the emotions of each character.
To challenge myself by using theatrical skills terminology for movement, I will use a all the space on the stage, show a range of levels and ensure I have smooth transitions. This includes thinking about how my character would move based on how they feel towards other characters and their relationship.
To challenge myself by using theatrical skills terminology for voice I will think about my tone, volume, pitch, pace, clarity and accent. Tone - Is my voice appropriate and suitable for my character (harsh or soft). Volume - To make sure everyone in the audience can hear and I will think about how loud or quiet I need to be based on my character.
Pitch - Does my character have a high or low pitched voice (squeaky or deep).
Pace - How fast will I speak? (too fast and the audience wont be able to keep up and too slow of a pace will bore the audience.
Clarity - I need to make sure I speak very clear or the audience will become confused. It's crucial!
Accent - If my character needs an accent, I must be ready to sustain it throughout the whole play.
