From topic 1, introduction to Technology Management, I know that technology management and management technology are different. Technology management allows organizations to manage its technological fundamentals to create competitive advantages, while management technology helps organizations in decision-making. I also know that every firm in the technology environment has roles such as the drivers of change in the environment where an organization creates new products, processes and materials and transforms and creates new industries. For example, Nokia is a paper mill company at first, then evolving into a mobile phone manufacturer. Other than that, technology environment also has a role as the beneficiaries of change initiated by others, as well as the facilitators of technology development and the victims of technology changes. To manage technology, a firm also needs key decisions such as determining whether it wants to be a leader or follower, develop its own new technology or buy new technology, determine the scope of products or services it wants to offer, and determine the scale of products or services. The process of managing technology also involves many organizations in a firm such as engineers to design the product, financial experts to underwrite the costs, marketing experts to test the product, and many more. This is because involvement from different organizations helps to develop the product. There are also 6 classifications of technology. It includes new technology, emerging technology, high technology, appropriate technology, medium technology, and low technology.
