Equipment needed: Mirror or tablet camera.
For the s- smile, close teeth, so the smile is even. Put the tongue behind the teeth. There are 2 places you can put your tongue. 1. If you are in kinder or 1st grade and have not lost your front teeth, I suggest you put the tongue behind the lower teeth. 2. If you have your new teeth you can put your tongue behind the top two front teeth, close the teeth and don't let it out of the gates ( in front of the teeth) keep it behind at all times.
For lists of words you can find some in an old school dictionary if you have one at home or you can goggle: lists of s words for speech therapy. There are a bunch of free lists out there. You can also be really creative and think of words that have your sound.
For th . Th has 2 versions. 1. The noisy TH called voiced th. What you do is slightly bite the tip of your tongue and let the air flow and make your voice get loud.
Voiced th words are:
that, them, these, their, the, this, those, they, than, there
Middle th:
mother, brother, father, weather, leather, tether, other, lather, gather, rather.
Final th
breeth, teethe bathe, bath, rath, cath,,
Then there is his quiet brother. He's called voiceless th
Here are some voiceless th words:
Voiceless th initial position:
thorn, think their thirst, thousand, three, thumb, thing, thank, thirteen, therapy
Th in the middle of the word:
: python, truthful,toothache
toothbrush,healthy, panther, toothpick, wealthy.
Final voiceless th:
earth, mouth, teeth, both, eighth, north, south, tenth, eleventh.
video yourself telling the story.* Listen to yourself, did you make the sounds the new way, how would you rate yourself ( 1 -I really need to work on it 5- I said my sounds half the time or 10 - I was perfect) Remember, when you are making your new sounds speak slowly so the tongue and the lips do the right thing.
