"The Constitution’s guarantee that no one can “be deprived of life, liberty or property” deliberately echoes the Declaration of Independence’s proclamation that “all” are “endowed by their Creator” with the inalienable right to life. Accordingly, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to children before birth."
I do not agree with abortion. But I do think that we should protect these rights and not let government infringe upon what women are allowed to do with their bodies. I do think that after a certain time abortions should not be performed, but to take that right away from women is wrong and will lead to harm being done.

I really love that the Republican party wants to restore the government back to the people. I think that things are way to regulated, and government oversight has spiraled out of control. I really loved how they wanted to take our judicial system back to following the law and NOT what the judge thinks is right. Restoring people's freedoms and rights is very important to me as I think that our rights and freedoms have been greatly disturbed.

Understanding The Platforms

Ok so I will admit that this is the first part platform that I have ever read. I found it very interesting that you could find what the party running stands for. Now wether or not they are telling the truth is another issue all together, however going to one document from that party and not someone else's opinions was great! I think that I will read the platforms documents in the next election to see where they stand. I really didn't even know that these existed before this class.

I think that having these platforms ar a good thing because we are able to read and see what the majority of the party stands for. I think that the majority of citizens today have not ever read any of the party platforms documents that are released. I think that in todays society we want to be spoon fed information. However as we talked about before this is very dangerous as this is someone else's opinion of the situation.

One part that I would have liked to see the wording a little different on was the topic of marriage. They really relayed the message that children are able to be raised better by a man and woman, and implied that the kids turn out better. Well I'm a single mother of 1 daughter and I'm here to tell you that even though I do feel a mother and father would be the best, my daughter has not suffered one bit being my daughter. I think that this disturbed or would frustrate a lot of families in our society.

The way the committee is set up for the party platforms to submit their draft is the following. A small group presents a draft to the full committee of 112 delegates. Then the delegates, 2 from each state, vote and bring up issues and changes they would like to see. Everyone votes and this creates the parties platform that they will stand for. I really appreciated this and thought that this way of representing the party really worked well. I think that this would represent the majority, and let people know what that group stood for.

Over all the party did a very good job in laying out before the people what they stood for and some of their plan on how to achieve that. The processes on achieving this were in line with what we have learned so far. I feel that my understand of the Party Platforms are much better than before in really researching the how and why these are even held. These are not the battle grounds of the past these are to show unity and present a clear direction for what the presidential candidate will run on.
