The Finnish Nature

The best thing I like about Finland is its nature. Unfortunately, we can only experience it in summers because in winters the whole country is covered in snow & ice.

I love to go to lakes and even in forests in summer time to spend some alone time. It is usually quite and not too crowdy, at least here is Tampere so it serves a great natural environment for people to enjoy time with themselves.

It is said that there are more than 187,000 lakes in Finland and the blue color in the Finnish flag is the serving as a symbol of blue skies and these lakes.

What I felt about Finland

As I do not have good critical incidents to share, I will be sharing a little bit about my personal experiences and culture shock I experiences after coming to Finland.

In the beginning, it took some time for me to learn that when Finnish people do not respond to you and don't actively participate in the conversation then it does not mean that they don't like you. It just the way they are. They don't like to talk much and some people even told me that they are not expected to talk much in their culture.

It was hard for me to understand why people stayed alone in the university. I found out that for some people it was a preference and for some Finnish people it was frustrating because they could not socialize a lot in Finland. The most irritating part for me in Finland is that one day you had a nice conversation with someone but the next day you met them it feels like you both are complete stranger. I don't know whose fault it that but that kind of environment does exist here.

The good thing is that Finnish people are trustworthy, they do not like to create problems for others and equality is a strong thing for Finnish people.
