         <description><![CDATA[<div>Berlioz, or Hector Berlioz was French born composer during the time of “The Romantic Era”. <br><br>Berlioz was born in France, in “La Côte St-André”.<br><br>His father was a doctor, and because of this he received early education.<br><br>As a child he studied flute and guitar, he also thought himself other aspects of music, including composition and harmony.<br><br>Berlioz was 12 when he first fell in love with Estelle Duboeuf, who influenced many of his early compositions.<br><br>Berlioz originally studied medicine to please his father but later abandoned them to peruse music.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Features of the “romantic era”</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The “romantic era” brought many new musical features to life, including: <br><strong>Program music: </strong>Program music is, music which tells a story, this music will have a back story and you can usually create a clear picture in your head whilst listening to it.<br><strong>Large orchestra’s: </strong>Using larger orchestras to make a more diverse and interesting sound became very popular during this period.<br><strong>The Modern Grand Piano: </strong>The “romantic era” saw the rise of the modern grand piano, which is still popular today. <br><strong>Form: </strong>During this time composers continued to use “symphony” as well as adapting “concerto” and songs”.<br><strong>Dynamic range: </strong>Dynamic, or large range included range of notes as well as key, instruments and themes.<br><strong>Mood/Character: </strong>Representing a particular story line, or setting the tone/feeling of the  piece .</div>]]></description>

         <title>What is “Symphonie Fantastique”?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Symphonie Fantastique is a symphony composed by Berlioz, which he began as a teenager but didn’t finish until 1830. It has 5 movement rather than the typical 4. <br><br>The story of Symphonie Fantastique is dream like, And many think it is based on dreams surrounding  his obsession Irish actor Harriet<br> Smithson.<br><br><strong>1st Movement, passions :</strong>The first movement depicts the joy and passion Berlioz felt when he met Smithson. <br><strong>2nd Movement, Un bal : </strong>The movement begins with a sense of anticipation, showing a ball and the evening playing out, it has a sense of expensive and joy.<br><strong>3rd Movement, scènes aux champs:</strong> The Movement begins calm and shows Berlioz dreaming of Shepard’s in a field, however he soon begins to worry about Smithson and whether or not she may betray him, which causes him to have a dark premonition in his dream.<br><strong>4th Movement, marche au supplice: </strong>This Movement has a darker theme and in this, Berlioz gives up on his love and takes a poison. Although it is too weak to kill him, it sends him into a coma, where he in-visions himself, killing his love. Which he is sentenced to death for.<br><strong>5th Movement, songe d’une nuit du sabbat:<br></strong>In this movement he finds himself at a witches sabbath.</div>]]></description>
