- How do green sea turtles die? They die by humans littering. When we throw plastic bags or sponges into the ocean, the green sea turtles think as if it is food and eats it. But since the sponges and plastic bags aren't food, it will make the green sea turtle think that as if it is full already when it is actually starving. Months later, it will die of starvation. And also, plastic bags are poisonous.
