After learning about clay's beneficial qualities, ancient people began using it to make pottery. The earliest known writing medium was clay tablets, and some of the oldest pottery shards date back to approximately 14,000 BCE.

Clay was the primary earthy material used by the Neolithic peoples to produce several items, including pottery, cooking balls, fishnet weights, jewelry, gaming pieces, and a portion of houses.

Where does it come from:

It is made up of soil's primary minerals, plants, and animals. The remains of plants, animals, and minerals are broken up into small particles by water pressure over time. Silt settles into clay beds after larger particles are filtered out through rocks and sand.

When I tried to squish the white clay, it was bit hard but with red clay was easier to manipulate. Then I mixed little bit of both Clays together and it's turn out like marble look. Then I tried to divide it into different sizes. I also tried to manipulate as it is and with some water to see the difference. It was really good experience to manipulate the clay in many ways.

It was amazed to see all those ways to explore the light with different materials or by itself. How it changed, when I bring the light forwards or backwards. It's changed the size of shadow. When I put the light inside jar of glass,it showed a beautiful pattern/shape.

What does it mean to 'listen with light?

"Listening with light" is the process of identifying and analyzing information, particularly noises, by watching minute variations in light.

What do shadow/transparency teach us about light?

A shadow is the absence of light, not a type of light itself. A shadow is produced when an item blocks a light source, preventing light from reaching a surface behind it.

Where does light come from? What makes light?

Light bulbs and stars like the Sun are examples of light sources, which generate photons from another energy source, such as heat, chemical reactions, mass conversion, or another type of electromagnetic radiation.

How does light offer us a different way of 'seeing' or a different perspective?

The retina, a light-sensitive layer of tissue at the back of the eye, is where light is converted into electrical signals by unique cells known as photoreceptors. The optic nerve carries these electrical impulses from the retina to the brain. By illuminating items, light essentially gives us the ability to see, allowing us to sense their textures, colors, and shapes. It also influences how we perceive depth and space, providing a dynamic and complex perspective on the world.

How does light respond to other materials in it's environment?

Depending on the material's composition and the light's wavelength, a light wave may be transmitted, reflected, absorbed, refracted, divided, reflected, or scattered when it comes into contact with an object.
