The Cold War was happening and with the end of the second world war Japan removed their troops from Vietnam. Ho’s Viet Minh forces took the opportunity to capture a city in the north and the war began. An article on history.com states ¨Following its 1945 defeat in World War II, Japan withdrew its forces from Vietnam, leaving the French-educated Emperor Bao Dai in control. Seeing an opportunity to seize control, Ho’s Viet Minh forces immediately rose up, taking over the northern city of Hanoi.¨ The north wanted a communist government and the south wanted to stay close to the west [US, Canada, ect] and the Soviets took the side of the north to try to spread communism and when they took the advance the US had to join and help the south repel the north.

The conflict was between the communist north and the democratic south who both wanted a united Vietnam but had different ideas on the type of government they needed. This was an open conflict because it was one of the wars that was influenced by the US and Soviets as part of the Cold War. History.com states ¨With the Cold War intensifying worldwide, the United States hardened its policies against any allies of the Soviet Union, and by 1955 President Dwight D. Eisenhower had pledged his firm support to Diem and South Vietnam.¨ With the two major competitors of the Cold War in on the fighting the war became bloody with both countries trying to spread their way of government on the other countries.

The Vietnam War affected all types of conflicts with the severity of the war and the need for each side to win. The economics of the war were negatively affected with the Soviets spending a majority of the counties budget towards war but the US was more conservative with their budget and did not waste it on war. The militarizes of the superpowers didn't directly fight but fought using other countries and supporting opposite sides by supplying them. The Vietnam War article on history.com states ¨South Vietnam advised a build-up of American military, economic and technical aid in order to help Diem confront the Viet Cong threat.¨ All of the interference/aid from the powers of the Cold War this war became a war to stop the spread of government change with the Soviets trying to stop the US from spreading democracy and the US trying to stop the Soviets from spreading communism.

The Human Right, The Right to Privacy was denied during the Vietnam War. The right was denied because the soldiers would search and take whatever they wanted from the houses even with people in them. In the article Vietnam War on history.com a video shows how the soldiers would look through houses and take or destroy the contents inside of it then burn the house down. This was so if recaptured by the enemy they would have nothing to take but was destructive to the country and ruining the lives of the citizens who and running from the war. The strategy has been used in war before but is needed to help the side win the war by supplying the enemy with supplies that could be used against them.
