Ho’s Viet Minh forces took the opportunity to capture a city in the north and the war began. An article on history.com states ¨Following its 1945 defeat in World War II, Japan withdrew its forces from Vietnam, leaving the French-educated Emperor Bao Dai in control. The economics of the war were negatively affected with the Soviets spending a majority of the counties budget towards war but the US was more conservative with their budget and did not waste it on war. The militarizes of the superpowers didn't directly fight but fought using other countries and supporting opposite sides by supplying them. The right was denied because the soldiers would search and take whatever they wanted from the houses even with people in them. In the article Vietnam War on history.com a video shows how the soldiers would look through houses and take or destroy the contents inside of it then burn the house down. This was so if recaptured by the enemy they would have nothing to take but was destructive to the country and ruining the lives of the citizens who and running from the war.
