The goal of the Creators for Creators grant is to help pave the way for the next generation of comics creators by supporting their work financially and through mentorship, as well as providing opportunities for their creations to reach a wide audience.

I chose Transportation Alternatives as my organization to represent because New York City is my home. Everyday I either walk, bike, or take public transit to get to where I need to be. On the rare occasions that I drive within the city, I can say with 100% certainty that it has always been stressful. Even if you somehow avoid traffic - good luck finding a parking spot. 

The concept behind my poster is ‘Streets for People’. As I mentioned before, as a New Yorker we all get frustrated at automobiles (even if you’re the one driving). Currently, our streets are designed to get from point A to point B and as programs like ‘Open Streets’ have shown, isn’t it better when we have more space to relax and enjoy together? If I can describe New York in one sentence, it’s this: “New York City is for and of the people.” I think it’s about time our streets reflect that as well.

I chose to represent the ASPCA for my Poster for a Cause, “Adopt Don’t Shop”. The ASPCA is a non-profit organization that aims to prevent animal cruelty. My poster is designed to bring awareness to pet adoption. Pet adoption reduces overcrowding in animal shelters, reduces euthanizing shelter animals, and reduces the amount of puppy mills. When designing my poster, I wanted to portray an emotional message to the viewers and give a perspective on the animals in the shelters. According to the ASPCA, 6.5 million animals enter shelters each year and 1.5 million of those animals are euthanized each year.

The Lunchbox fund is an organisation that was created in South Africa to provide meals for children who are at risk of food insecurity. This fund was established to give children a chance to thrive while they are in preparation for the formal education that will lead to a successful future.
