It was Thursday, January 18th, at 7pm. I sat in Eakins Lounge in Jefferson Alumni Hall awaiting presenters Vashit DuBois, Michael Clemmons, and Marilisa Navarro. DuBois (founder and executive director of The Colored Girls Museum) and Clemmons (curator of the museum) were going to discuss their museum The Colored Girls Museum and its newest exhibition Urgent Care. Navarro, an assistant professor of African American studies at Jefferson was present to discuss topics shown in the artwork from the museum. The event flyer read, "The Colored Girls Museum is a memoir museum, which honors the stories, experiences, and history of Colored Girls."
