I thought that this was so interesting, and I really wanted to see what it was made out of.  This vest is heat resistent, and hence it name it is very strong! These vests are so useful that the average cost is around $400. This vest was first made in the 1960s, and the fabric was first not intended to make bullet-proof material, but to make tires stronger.

These vests are typically enforced with some metal plates, but the majority of the vest is made of Kevlar.  An interesting fact about this substance is that it is five times stronger than steel on an equal weight basis!  But, what could possibly make it this strong and durable?

Bulletproof vests wouldn't be possible without it! Plastic can be traced back to petroleum which is a natural resource.

Because these plants and algae species are extinct, after the patroleum that we have runs out, we can not make more of this resource.  Therefore, we have finally traced our bulletproof vest back to ancient algae and plants!
