         <description><![CDATA[<p>Within Jazz, flexibility is a weakness of mine which causes my movements such as kicks and leaps to be limited in extension. In this video, it is evident that my legs don’t fully extend due to limited flexibility. By incorporating targeted stretching routines into my fitness regime, I aim to expand my range of motion.This will not only enhance the quality of my performances but also ‘allow my body to perform more advanced movements’ (Carolina Dance, 2022), mastering my technique and reducing the risk of injuries associated with restricted movement, allowing me to express myself more freely and confidently with the style of Jazz.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>When striving towards becoming a more versatile dance, I have committed to enhance my flexibility as it plays a vital role in executing intricate movements with precision whilst helping with proper alignment of my body. To ensure that my flexibility is improved, I created a stretching routine which I complete at least four times a week. By staying consistent with this, it ensures that I will be able to consistently work on my range of motion to elongate my lines, elevate the quality of performance and expand my capabilities not only in Jazz but across various dance styles.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>To enhance my balance in Contemporary, I will focus on core strengthening exercises to stabilise my body. Additionally, practicing slow and controlled movements such as tilts will help my find my centre. The fitness regime that I have created consists of press-up plank and sit-ups which will target the relevant muscles so that I can built up strength. With consistent practice and gaining feedback from my teacher I will be able to successfully refine my core muscles, ‘improve dance performance, enhance body composition and reduce injury rates’. (Berardi.G, 2004).</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Through conscious practice and focused muscle engagement, I've significantly improved my turnout in ballet. This progress is especially evident during movements like développé in écarté position, where my hip rotation now reaches its full range while maintaining proper alignment and stability. This enhanced turnout has elevated my overall performance, lending an effortless quality to my movements. This will benefit me when entering the industry as ‘Ballet gives dancers a solid foundation of technique, leading to success in other styles’. Therefore by having strong technique, I will be stronger in auditions, making me stand out and potentially book more jobs.</p>]]></description>

This progress is especially evident within routines when there is a change of pace and attack as I can now ensure that I have the strength in my limbs to control each action, which allows me to portray the correct intentions of Commercial dance more accurately.          <description><![CDATA[<p>To improve my turnout, I am progressively increasing the flexibility and strength of my hip muscles, which is essential for achieving a graceful and expansive movements. I have invested time to targeted stretches and conditioning exercises to activate specific muscles, ensuring proper body placement and awareness of my capabilities. The routine I have created involves frog pose, pigeon and hip openers which I complete at least twice a week. This will allow me to enhance my stability in movements like high leg lifts, grand battements and arabesques.</p>]]></description>

This progress is especially evident during exercises where we stand on one leg and execute intricate rotations, as I can now sustain optimal stability, enhancing my extensions and overall performance. These exercises allow me to refine my weight control as it shifts onto the balls of my feet, therefore needing precise alignment to improve balance and overall stability during performances. Additionally, I've been integrating my improved balance into my contemporary dance exercises in class, ensuring that each movement is executed with engaged core muscles.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Within Ballet, I need to improve on my turnout as it is ‘one of the defining characteristics of classical Ballet and the foundation of your technique’ (Larsen. G, 2019) in this first video, executing a developpé in ecarté position revealed a slight turn in of my leg, causing my hip to be out of line, resulting in instability. Therefore, my proper muscle alignment is compromised, impacting my form and restricting the precision of movement execution. So, I must focus on improving my turnout through doing a series of techniques to ensure stability, prevent injuries and ultimately elevate the accuracy of my performance.</p>]]></description>

Exceptional balance is the foundation upon which intricate movements, fluid transitions and and expression are built within Contemporary and so it is important to master so that my overall performance is improved.          <description><![CDATA[<p>In Commercial, control is crucial for elevating your overall performance. Precise control enhances your ability to execute intricate choreography with accuracy. However this is a weakness of mine as displayed through this video as I am highlighting a lack of strength and control throughout in particular through my arms movements and legs when I am bending, which makes my performance look weak and doesn’t portray the correct intentions. The intentions of Commercial dance according to the book ‘Commercial Dance: An Essential Guide’ are loosely ‘referred to as a form of theatre motivated by making a profit ahead of a purely artistic or creative desire, its purpose is to sell stuff’ (Trahearn.R, 2023) Therefore it’s important that I focus on improving this skill so that I can ensure I have proper body alignment which will enhance my versatility as a dancer enabling me to adapt meet the diverse demands of choreography and allow me to get booked as by working on my control, I will be able to represent the Commercial brands in the correct way, which currently I struggle with.</p>]]></description>

In this video, I created a routine which consisted of arm exercises, push ups and leg strengtheners which I complete around three times a week so that I can emphasis precision and muscle engagement to build muscle memory. This will allow me to refine my ability to maintain control during the dances we execute so that I can move onto more complex routines, performing them with ease.</p>]]></description>

This conscious effect ensures that I engage the necessary muscles, maintaining correct body placement while maximising turnout. In particular, I have been concentrating on my turnout during barre exercises to establish a strong foundation before transitioning to centre work. This deliberate practice allows me to focus on my placement and helps the development of muscle memory and coordination, allowing me to become more confident of my placement when performing. From doing this, have already noticed improvements in class as I execute movements with greater precision, hitting angles and timings accurately. This precision is pivotal for conveying the intended message of the choreography, a fundamental aspect of Commercial dance.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>In addition to having a consistent stretch routine to develop my flexibility, I have been further developing my strength through using ankle weights when doing kicks. This can drastically improve technique as it creates more awareness of imbalances in my body and “The muscles have to work harder to move this increased load against gravity, and in turn this will increase strength," (Downey.T, 2021). Furthermore, I’ve been integrating my enhanced flexibility into my jazz routines, enabling me to advance further by making my performances appear seamless, therefore supporting artistic expression so that when I emerge into the industry, I will be able to do what is required with confidence and ease.</p>]]></description>
