The phonograph is represented in a textured black tone that gives it a vintage appearance. The bird head & beak are set in the  negative space of the phonograph cone. Also the curved edges of the phonograph cone look like the soft feathers of a bird wing outstretched. The artist played on the relationship of sound by joining a song bird & a machine used to play music.
