Andy Diaz & Emily Robbins

The first thing that stood out to us was in Section 38, essentially stating that women have been the roots of many concepts and inventions that have helped develop men become what they are today. Without women, men would not have reached their full potential. Another thing that stood out, also in Section 38, was how Queen Ceres contributed to the physical shaping of men, introducing a better diet to sculpt their bodies, making them physically stronger. As mentioned in a previous section, men are highlighted for their physical strength, while women are seen more for their mentality. The last thing that stood out to us was in Section 46, Queen Dido's entire story about her strong mental endurance throughout dealing with the death of her husband and her brother attempting to steal away her husband's riches.

In Section 38, what stood out for us is Christine de Pizan’s discussion of the virtues and wisdom of women leaders, which would challenge the traditional belief that women are unfit for positions of power or leadership. Lady Reason continues to guide Christine by giving examples of strong women who governed, showing that intellect and moral strength are not limited by someone's gender. Section 38 really expresses in defending women’s worth by talking about their political achievement, going against the idea that women can not be in the same position as men.

In excerpt 46, the main thing I had found admirable to gain my interest would be Queen Dido’s cleverness and easy convincing attitude. I say this due to how she did not take revenge in spilling more blood, but using her own unique mind to guide her path that her brother yet couldn’t manage. She did not only trick “smart men,” she used only his sin against him, and the gods will against his traitorous act. She managed to build a quiet civilization.

In section 48, what stood out to us was Lady's reason for explaining to Christine de Pizan what she had gone through. Saying that after all she had gone through. She was telling Christine that so she can see that God has never criticized women more than the males.

Maria Zarate & Fabiola Lopez

In section 38, what stood out to me was how Christine, in the book of the cities, demonstrated how she learned that men did not have the right to say what women are, because most women helped the men get them to a place where they were. Another interesting topic came from section 46, where Lady Reason discussed Queen Dido’s quick thinking and good heart. She was able to not only trick a powerful and evil king successfully, but was still kind to the followers who came with her instead of becoming power hungry like her brother when she ruled her own city. Something in section 48 that stood out to me was how Lady Reason was able to end her argument that god loves women to christine. She shows the extent that women have influenced the world with the walls of the city of ladies being completed.
