The way I would define endless inventory is the collection of an artist’s work over the course of their career. Everybody has that one artist they always listen to no matter what, but it goes beyond that. It’s also about how the fans feel connected or can to their music from their early work till the time they retire. Ratliff arguments about endless inventory are correct, my interpretation of his argument is that people who feel connected to a certain artist will always feel connected to them based on some experience whether it’s personal or not. In one of Ratliff’s example he speaks about the collection of music he found for the band The Ungrateful Dead. He talks about the collection he saw and how each collection is specifically organized based on the era of the band and how the band over time. Ratliff broke down how long it would take somebody to go through the inventory, which would a few years to get through. For me, that artist I feel connected to would be J. Cole. When I listen to his music, I’m just focused on what he’s trying to say. At times I just get lost in his music as he talks about society or past experiences he’s gone through that I can relate to and it could either some of his early or newest work that I find myself lost in. Endless inventory is an important musical element, because as fans of the particular artist we will always have their collection of music to listen to at any point of our lives.

Ratliff talks about Mariah Carey and how work has influenced some people over her career, such as Beyonce. Mariah Carey began her career in the 80's is still releases new music. Almost every singer aspires to hit high notes like Mariah.

When I listen to J. Cole, I listen to what he's trying to get across or just get lost in my thoughts. His music reflects on certain situations that have happened in society but he also keeps it real. His song January 28th, is a song where he speaks about staying true to yourself regardless of the position you're in and speaks out about what's happening in the world. It's best to keep an open mind, let your thoughts flow, and get lost in the music.

The point is a larger array of music than the eye can see on the shelf, than the ear can take in within one cycle of memory. It doesn't reduce to a song or an album.
