Facial recognition allows for users to have secure access to all their stuff, and for no one else to have access because faces are unique. However, giving our faces to social media companies leads to our faces being everywhere. We become the commodity of the social media company. There will always be biases in the algorithms because they have always been developed by a small group of people that do not span all cultures of the world.

What is missing is the idea that user's data is the good being sold by most big tech companies. Their business model is selling ads that are curated to each user. Getting relevant ads seems like a good idea at first until you realize that your behaviors are getting modified by these same ads. This means that you are being bought by advertisers. I think that it is important to realize that tech was created to do good, but the fundamental business models are not.

Technology can lead to injustice by propelling the elite forward without considering everyone else. However, if technology is given to people with less, those same people can catch up. Tech creates justice by making the playing field more even.
