  7 weeks had passed by. I felt too soon for me to go through with this 7 weeks in my life as a Biotech student. But it’s okay. Since I have taken course Biotechnology, I have to learn Microbiology as one of my subject in this course. It is quite tough for me. And now I would like to tell a little bit about my reflective journal. For your information, I don’t even know what is Microbiology until I was exposed with this new world which is the Microb world. When I was walk around I saw a man wearing a shirt that written a phrase “No microb, no life”. From there I was interested to learn about Microbiology. In my first class, I was wondered what is microb world. The first thing that I have learnt in Microbiology is the introduction to Microbiology. From there, I knew what is Microbiology, what is microbes and how they are grouped into 5 groups which are bacteria, protozoa, algae, fungi and viruses. Each group have their own unique characteristics. I also learnt about how they are discovered by the scientist. This could make me much more interested in learning Microbiology as I want to know more about Microbiology. Some of the microbes give benefits for us in our daily life and some could be harmful to us. Then, I learnt about microscopy which is one of the important tools in Microbiology studies. I learnt about types of microscopes and how to handle the microscope safely. And now I was introduced with the microbial metabolism. I think that’s all for my reflective journal. Assalamualaikum and hye everyone,

       For the previous week, Dr. Wan has taught us about the microbial metabolism and fungi. Through our session with Dr. Wan, we got to learn many new things about the microbial metabolism. We knew the definition of metabolism and enzyme involved, the role of enzyme and importance of metabolism for cell maintenance and how nutritional requirement and metabolism are involved in generation of ATP. Microbial metabolism are divided into 2 types of reaction which are catabolic reactions that produce energy and anabolic reactions that use energy. I also have learnt the roles of enzymes involved in microbial metabolism mechanisms. After the lecture, we continued on our discussion about awesome microbe event that will be held on 19 & 20 November. Dr. Wan had showed us the correct ways to find the true source or references in the internet. 

     On Thursday, we continued our lecture with Dr. Wan about fungi. In this topic, we had learnt about the charcteristics of fungi. Each of them have their own unique characteristics. We learnt about different spore morphologies, the beneficial and harmful effects of fungi and roles of fungi in the environment. I hope I can understand well and can do better in next test. Firstly, sorry for being late to submit this journal. I would like to talk about Awesome Microbe that was be held on 19 & 20 November. It was an amazing event for me as it was the first time for me to be a part of an event like that.

Before the event started, my friends and I were doing the preparation at Panggung Percubaan. We arranged all the stuffs used for that event. Our senior gave the instructions for us on what to do. Then after finished all the works we went back to our college.

On the next day, the event was started. My friends and I were not around in the morning since we all got presentations for Biochemistry in the morning. After we all finished our presentations, we went to Panggung Percubaan to help all of Microbe students to handle the event. On that day, we were asked to interview some of the visitors for our feedback and it was also be an assignment for us. All of us were busy finding a visitor to have an interview. The event ended at 5 on that day.

On the last day of the event, we were asked to do the explaination for the visitors about aurasma as we did not do so on the day before. Then we all busy to explain the visitors on how to use the Aurasma. We were also busy answering the kahoot question to win a prize during the happy hour. For the last happy hour, my friend from trello boyz, Fairiel won a hamper as he was the fastest to answer all the questions. On that day, the event ended a little bit earlier as we need to pack up all the things. For the last word, Awesome Microbe Carnical was an amzing event for me. Hope it would be held again next year. Last week, my friends and I learnt about how to classify microbes and how to name the microbes. Actually, we all have to learn about microbial growth but some of us did not submit the assignment on Microbial growth including me. I'm sorry Dr. Okay, move to our lessons last week. In ur lecture, we all have learnt how to name the Microbes based on their structure like shapes, sizes and others. we also learnts when to use a capital letter and when we do not have to use the capital letter for the scientific names of Microbes. This was on our lecture on Monday.

On Thursday, we all have test 2. So we didn't learnt anythng on that day. The question was not so easy for me but i don't know how the others perspective on the questions. I just don't know what to talk anymore. That's all from me. Thank you.

Last week, most of us have already submitted the assignment on microbial growth. So, we could start our lesson with Dr. Wan about Microbial Growth. In our class, we learnt about facultative anaerobe, obligate anaerobe, obligate aerobe, aerotolerant anaerob and microaerophiles. The growth of microorganisms is affected by the physical and chemical factors. We also learnt some methods to control microbial growth. Microbes that required temperature are classified into 3 groups which are physchrophiles, mesophiles and thermophiles. Some of the microbes required pH, halophiles or non-halophiles osmotic and some require chemical carbon. At the end of the class, Dr. Wan want to discuss about the questions on microbial growth but one of us still didn't submit the questions so that we could not discuss about the questions. I think i don't have any idea now. That's all from me. Thank you. Bye.

Last week, Dr. wan was not around in UPM as she got a work to do. So that Dr. Fairulniza replaced Dr. Wan for 3 classes including this week on Tuesday. We learnt about Immunology and hypersensitivity and autoimmune diseases. During our lesson with her, we learnt many things about how an antigen fight the pathogen using various ways. We also learnt many types of immunity and how a disease can be cured. We learnt components and mechanisms of different lines of defense in human body. We also learnt various defects in human system. Then, in our next class, We learnt the mechanisms by whch the type hypersensitivity occur. We also learnt how the symptoms of allergy enveloped. I think i would like to stop here. Thank you

This week, Dr. Wan was still not around on Tuesday so, Dr. Fairulniza replaced her again. During our lesson with Dr. Fairulniza, we learnt about clinical diagnosis and public health. In our class with her, we learnt many things about pathogen. we also learnt on how to detects pathogens. We learnt about the factors involved in Epidemial Microbiology and factors involved in nosocial infections. We enjoy our class as the topic is quite interesting for me.

Then, on Thursday, Dr. Wan is back. In our class, we learnt about the Protists. We learnt tat the Protists is divided into 3 main groups, protozoa, algae and slime mold. We got to know about their characteristics, how they obtain nutrients and how they reproduce. After finished our class on the Protists, Dr. Wan give a short brief about 3MT. She told us to enjoy on the stage. Make the stage as the stage is ours. Since this is the last class with her for this semester, we would be missing you Dr. Wan as you're a very happening lecturer that we have. You love to make jokes to prevent us from being sleepy. Thank you Dr. Wan for teaching us and for handling our class greatly as we all love to cause many problems like submitting the assignments overdue but you still can be considered about it.
