I would like to see the NHS/Government put out a very powerful message around the inappropriate/misuse of the service and to use real stories to show negative patient outcomes that were solely due to a delayed ambulance response. The message needs to show evidence of exactly why an ambulance attendance or hospital conveyance was not needed. Maybe to show a heart attack victim at home, awaiting a crew and a young person who has fallen down on a park being treated by a crew who had been flagged down on route to the Category 2 call. At the end of the story, in an attempt to create maximum impact, to tell the public that the two patients were related and how this affected the family. The older person (let's call him grandad) passed away due to a delayed ambulance response whilst the young child (his grandson) was treated on scene and all was well.
