Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): a psychiatric condition that may occur in people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event or series of traumatic events.

Residual: remaining after most of something has gone

Contemporary: belonging to or occurring in the present.

Oppressed: subject to harsh and authoritarian treatment.

Exacerbate: make (a problem, bad situation, or negative feeling) worse.

Socialization: the process of learning to behave in a way that is acceptable to society.

Disproportionate: too large or too small in comparison with something else.

Institutionalized Racism: The perpetuation of discrimination on the basis of race by political, economic, or legal institutions and systems.

White Flight: the phenomenon of white people moving out of urban areas, particularly those with significant minority populations, and into suburban areas.

Gentrification: A process in which a poor area of a city experiences an influx of middle-class or wealthy people who renovate and rebuild homes and businesses and which often results in an increase in property values and the displacement of earlier, usually poorer residents.

Perpetuate: make (something, typically an undesirable situation or an unfounded belief) continue.

Internment Camp: a prison camp for the confinement of civilian prisoners of war, "enemy aliens", & political prisoners.
