I love that Jason said that before we jump to say something we should ask 3 probing questions. I can't wait to get the ppt to work on incorporating some of the scripts he mentioned and the prompts and probing questions list.

I think in response to the second cloud we need to think about Ms. Turner and give each other grace and remain curious about why some might feel our workplace is like that and be actionable about what we want it to be.

I love this question but I think this PD was a lot. We as teachers know that time to digest and think about how to implement what we learned is super important. I would love it if the next PD day or even next Tuesday we got some direction on what is expected of us to do we this information.

A reminder that as teachers we should focus on building connections with our kids before we dive into content. Authentic relationships are what make kids and classrooms safe enough for students to learn effectively. Another thing he said that resonated with me was that as teachers, our bodies are a pedagogy and we need to be mindful of how we speak and behave in front of our kids because they are watching us.

There were several jarring/eye-opening words and statements that were made anonymously using the word clouds, and we did not acknowledge them as a whole staff. I think we dropped the ball on that and we need to do better. If we want to have a safe space for people to share anonymously, we need to do a lot of groundwork and set parameters before we jump right in. I would love to learn more about having effective and vulnerable conversations with my colleagues that can easily be transferred into my classroom to use with my students.

I appreciated looking at how we talk to each other and how we talk to kids as an interaction vs. transaction. As much as we try to model how we regulate ourselves to help our students self regulate and navigate conflicts, being an educator sometimes there is not time to stop, pause and reflect with the student rather than just giving a direction (transaction).

anonymous submission of how we would describe how we feel as staff in the community. A lot of words came up "passive aggressive, stressed, white" and I think that as much as it was great that this was an open space to truly write and communicate thoughts and feelings, there was no opportunity to actually discuss it.

We talk about accepting and acknowledging others' lived experiences and to be authentic to ourselves and support our students navigating their authentic selves while feeling supportive. Would love a PD addressing talking about disability and different religion/cultures aside from the ones we already have big assemblies, programming and resources for (i.e.black history month, lunar new year). Would love to see more resources to talk about disability rights movements and how to support students to talk about their disability (with parent permission and if the student wants to) to support both neurotypical and neurodiverse students to speak about it in a way that is not "taboo" but more of day to day conversations so it is more norm rather than uncomfortable to bring up
