They need to know that the information they are using and presenting is valid and objective. (Wikipedia is not a source, but the sources inside the Wikipedia article could possibly be legitimate.) We also need to train our students to use technology responsibly and appropriately. By the time they leave junior high students should have a deeper understanding of their actions and behaviors on the internet with a huge emphasis on what not to do.. continue digital citizenship and also be introduced to academic research. By the time that students leave high school they should understand how to analyze a website to determine if information is factual. Students should be able to understand what an academic resource looks like in comparison to a non-academic resource.
