we live in a world that tells is how to live it and what to identify as since we are born and to follow the rules of are assigned gender without noticing . Do we actually have the freedom to be ourselves and not feel ashamed of it ?

Roles and Responsibilities

We are assigned roles and responsibilities based on are gender that are carried thought our lives . “Every society classifies people as “girl and boy”children,girls and boys ready to be married.” (Judith Lorber ) As a Latina women i remember when i was younger viewing the norms women carry in a household normal to make the food ,do the chores and dress formal whenever men are around the house . However I had developed that gender personality structure in my childhood because that is what I was told to do by other Latina older women and the society around me .

Female and Male the only choices .

We tell children they only have one choice based on there genders if you are a girl then most of your toys are going to be a Barbie doll and pink whereas a boy has dark color toys that have roles as firefighters ,policemen ,cars etc. “children are generally squeezed into one of the two prevailing categories” . (Anne Fausto-Sterling ).With these limited choices where do children who are intersexual left to choose between ? and how can we prevent them from having a hard life.who are we to decide their rights ? They should be able to have a childhood that is simple and easy.

The social construct is in need for change .

The future generations should have the freedom to decide how to live their lives in their genders . The five sexes system need to be introduced to more people that don’t have as much knowledge about it . Some find the changes under way deeply disturbing .others find them liberating . (Anne Fausto-Sterling The Five Sex’s Revisited ) . Although there has been some changes through the years there is still a need for gender options to expand and be seen as normal .

Set yourself Free .

We should be able to live our lives freely without needing to remind ourselves what we can and can’t do because of our gender identity . Don’t restrain yourself just because your gender norms and what society defines gender . For instance I personally prefer to wear baggy clothes even though women fashion stereotype is to wear color clothing that looks girly I am open to showing my personality through fashion so i wear whatever satisfies me and makes me feel comfortable . The stereotype that Women are suppose to be feminine/soft like wearing makeup is an aspect looked as girly However when I wear makeup I don’t do it because I feel the need as a woman I do it because I enjoy it and the way it makes me feel . In conclusion our society construct on gender shouldn’t feel forced into us instead it should feel optional and expanded to modern standards so that we can all feel comfortable,confident ,free and welcomed to live in a society that accepts us for who we are as humans .
