In the poem about the sneetches it explains how they aren't equal because they don't have the same belly. In The Giver they try to prevent inequality because they think that everything will fall apart if someone has something more or less than someone just like the Sneetches. The Sneetches also have status systems just like the society in The Giver when everyone has a group and is judged on what they do for a living. Although the Sneetches are similar they also have some differences.
