My name is Dung and I am 11 years old. This year, I have been a kid child and a good student. I help my mother dry the clothes every day and listen to my grandparent to clean my room. I have been studying very hard all year. I’m also nice to my sister, even though she annoys me sometimes.

 

Thank you for all the presents last year. They were all readly nice. I had a lot of fun playing with them. This year, I would like a new Lego set. I also want to give my mother a bunch of flowers, a box of chocolates for my sister, and a tie for my father. 

 

Please give my love to the dwarves and reindeer especially Rudolph. I’ll leave some carrots for the reindeer next to your milk and cookie.

How are you? The next year is almost coming and I will tell you about our Tet holiday. I make sure you’d like it.

Everyone is so excited because a new year is coming, mostly children and also me:) We have two Tet holidays, the first one is on the 1^st of January and the 2^nd one is in February. 

We usually decorate and clean the house to welcome a lucky new year. Also in front and the back. We make Chung cakes together and arrange beautiful flowers.

On the 1^st of January, students have one day off from school. We at home and take some rest before going to school the next day, it seems like a normal Sunday. Not special.

The 2^nd one is Lunar New Year, we have 3 days for the Tet holidays. On the 1^st day, my family customarily goes to the temple to pray for a peaceful and happy new year. In the afternoon, my mother cooks a meal to offer the ancestors. In recent years, my family has often come to watch fireworks from the old year to the new year. So the first day of the Tet holidays passes through. 

On the 2^nd day, we usually take a visit around to visit relatives and neighbours to receive lucky money and inquire about their health. In Viet Nam, we have a tradition that the first person who enters your house in the new year is the person who breaks into the house and brings good luck to your family that year. Some years when we even visit our grandmother's house and stay there for 2 days but it's not so usual.

On the last day, my family usually stays at home for taking a rest or visit someone that we haven't been able to visit on the 2^nd day.

Sorry , it’s taken me so long to write a letter for you. How are you today ? I hope you are well

Today , I’m writing this letter to talk you about Tet holiday in Viet Nam. Tet, also known as the Lunar new year festival, is the biggest traditional festival in Viet Nam. Tet is usually from the end of January to early February. Before Tet, the Vietnamese prepare many things for the three main days. They clean the house and decorate a lot of trees such as peach / apricot blossom or kumquat tree. Some ingredients will be purchased before Tet to make indispensable dishes on Tet holiday like Banh Chung , Gio cha … 

In tet , people visit relative’s home and give some wishes. Another activity is give lucky money for children and the oldest people in the family .Beside , Vietnamese usually go to the pogoda or temple to get health , success , … 

Tet is the best time with family , people can gather together . I hope Covid-19 will be end so that everyone can celebrate a meaningful Tet with family.

Normally in Vietnam, every occasion to prepare for the Lunar New Year, everyone, whether working or going to school, has a holiday schedule. Usually there will be a holiday for more than a week and a day off before December 30 from two to three days. Everyone will clean and shop for their house.

 During the Lunar New Year, almost everyone will have a peach or apricot branch, or many houses also have ornamental orange, grapefruit, and kumquat trees. There is one dish that cannot be missed on Tet holiday, which is banh chung, spring rolls, ...

On New Year's Day, people will wish each other good things and grandparents will give lucky money to their children and grandchildren. The bright red red envelopes mean luck, good luck and pray that the children will study hard. If there was no covid 19 epidemic, he could see lion dance performances in places like temples and communal houses. 

Tet is a time when everyone in the family gathers and gathers together. Hope the covid 19 epidemic will soon pass so you can go to Vietnam to try the Vietnamese New Year once.

How are things? I hope you’re well. Uhmm... I heard you came back to Vietnam a few months ago but haven't had a chance to meet each other. Today is the 29th or will you come to my house to celebrate Tet? Anyway, you can't go back to the US because of the COVID-19 spreading. My family is waiting for you. So I will introduce you to Tet in Vietnam. I make sure you'd like it:)

Not only China according to the lunar calendar but also Vietnam, you know that right? Tet is the most important celebration for Vietnamese people. It runs for 3 days, from 1st to 3rd of Jan.

Vietnamese people believe that on New Year's Day everything must be new and changed, from foreign objects to people's hearts, so about ten days before Tet they usually paint and whitewash their houses to create a cozy space. They are also busy shopping for new clothes or red packets on this occasion. Everyone is excited for Tet and so am I =))

On New Year’s Eve, we shall have dinner and w "Tao Quan" together. A cozy space for all the family. At exactly 12 o'clock, there will be beautiful fireworks that light up the whole sky. More especially the custom of the first foot. 

During Tet, every family worships their ancestors or goes to the temple to pray for the best. Tet is the best time for family gatherings to exchange New Year wishes before joining each other in the family meal. We generally worship our ancestors around the year, but we do it more during Tet.

 I always make time to visit relatives, friends and teachers. I believe that every child loves Tet and I am, too. Because we get lucky money haha. After going out, I will enjoy traditional food with my family such as Chung cake, sticky rice, boiled chicken... The thing that I really love about Tet is that people always avoid arguing and mistake. A happy Tet!

After Tet, we clean up together and return to normal life with many good things.

I’m Ha Anh, I’m a student in class 8a1 at Chu Manh Trinh Secondary School. This Noel will be so special and memorable with me because 2 recent years Covid-19 has been raging all over the world, so it is very great to go out and organize such a big festival.

Because of being at home for a long time so everyone wants to participate in the Noel festival. Lately, if I go out I will see almost all people wearing clothes in red or green colours. They talk about the Christmas event and I can feel that Christmas is here. 

Moreover, children also wait for the day to hang out with family or friends anyway because they haven’t seen them for long. 'Cause of the diseases here is being so dangerously, both students and adults work at home. In my opinion, studying at home need students' self-consciousness but sometimes for some students online learning becomes boring and they lose their focus. This so happens to me and this time, my grades dropped dramatically. 

But anyway, my examinations are coming soon, I wish that I would do it well. Wishing everything for my family and friends. And I hope that the Covid-19 will be end soon so that everyone could be able to return to ordinary life as we used to. That is all I want from you this Christmas.
