I have a lot of experience with tutorials. I am a former AVID student and this will be my 6th year teaching the AVID elective class. When I was a student, we also worked with tutors or sometimes we did not have a tutor and my classmates and I helped each other. The formatting was a little different, but the over all idea of tutorials was the same as it is for you as current AVID students. I really enjoy challenging my students to dig deeper with their critical thinking skills. NOT JUST GIVING EACH OTHER THE ANSWERS. But HOW can you get an answer...I also enjoy watching my students work collaboratively to help each other in areas where they struggle. There's never any judgement, so all of my students feel comfortable after the first few practice sessions.
