Studies Show that DDT heavily impacted the health of the people in the area. Some there have been many cases of developmental abnormalities, reproductive disease, and even some cases of cancer. There was also evidence found the prenatal exposer to DDT may have been associated with delayed processing speed in children at the age of 7 and when exposed DDT can stay in the human body for decades.

Rachel Carson was an American marine biologist, writer, and conservationist whose book did a great job addressing the issues of this pesticide. She wrote that if humans continued to use these chemicals without limitations, the environment would be severely damaged. If the government didn't set laws to protect the environment, humans would soon experience a "silent spring," without bird noises. With her studies and words DDT was eventually banned. The way she chose to address this issue reflects the Ecocentric value system.

DDT was one of the earliest and most widely used pesticide at he time. The mass use of this chemical had a significant impact on the environment including the contamination of water and soil. The high amounts that were released almost every day led to air pollution that seriously damaged the ozone.
