Social Forces are aspects of society. The school is an institution in society that can be seen as a means of teaching students about the society that they are a part of. Some social forces that may directly influence the curriculum are the environment, the family and crime and violence to name a few. Students should be taught how to approach the society they live in.

1. Provide real life scenarios and have students come up with solutions- These activities will mainly be done in cooperative groups, thus demonstrating that in life, we need the help of those we work with and even live with to solve many problems. Problems can be used within a number of subject areas such as Mathematics which requires calculations, Social Studies using social problems, Science using environmental problems, etc.

2. Show videos of real-life things and situations that cannot be done or brought into the classroom. This broadens students’ experiences exposing to other societies. Students of enjoy visuals and videos are part of their everyday experiences which help teach them.

3. Provide students with activities in school where they are to practise responsibility. These can include clean up campaigns, class monitors, posters that encourage better behaviour, better environmental practices and voting for positions in class and school wide.

4. Allow students opportunities to perform practical tasks at home (Practical homework) and present in school. Eg. Family makeup and responsibilities

5. Dramatise scenarios, depicting specific qualities of good citizens.

6. Field trips to places around the country that will provide real life experiences and exposure.
