I feel like it’s the true voice of humanity, what makes up songs, and a way to make something as simple as a jumble of letters into a creative piece that is as much art as a painting or a photograph. The greatest forms of art have meaning and symbolism and allude to something personal, as well as just beauty. Poetry does just this. It’s unique in that it doesn’t follow the typical structure of an essay, novel, or short story. Writers have more creative freedom with poems and sometimes utilizes them as an outlet for emotions or thoughts. I personally like reading and writing poetry, especially analyzing it. It's not as formal or long as an essay and can be about any topic. When analyzing poetry I think its very fun and interesting to use literary devices that you know of to decipher the author's opinion on the topic presented. Poems can express what normal writing cannot. However, I personally have never been much of a poetry fanatic. I find some poems to be tedious at some points, although there are some poems I have read that I can appreciate.
