S. Lewis once wrote that “The death of a beloved is an amputation”. Even though that has always resonated deeply with me, the truth is I have no idea what it is to lose a child or a sibling. I can only imagine how far the depths of grief and fear and pain go. Far beyond words, certainly. But if I do know anything, it is that Christopher is still here with us. Everything he touched, every person who knew him holds part of him within them still. He loved all of you deeply and that love lives on. This whole community carries that love for you and your son with them. I knew Christopher since the beginning of my time at summit cove. He was always such a great and smart kid. I remember the last time I talked to Christopher was in my French class, I wasn't happy that day, but I remember me and Christopher we’re sitting next to each other and he cheered me up we were talking about dumb funny things, he helped me that day to have a positive outlook in that day. Christopher was a great guy and I’m thankful that I had the chance to meet him. He was and will be a smart, kind, and very funny kid. I’m sorry for the loss of you beloved child. My prayers and condolences go out to the darst family.

Every day at practice and at meets Christopher would talk to everyone and check in with all of us. He was confident, strong, and dedicated to the team even when he couldn’t run with shin splints. Speaking with him cheered me up. He would tell funny jokes, laugh with other people’s jokes and just spread joy and laughter himself. Christopher was an amazing student, athlete, and friend who is greatly missed.
