User research is an ART as well as a Science. That applies a wide range of methods (methodology), analytic techniques and storytelling skills.

This is all in order to gather information and distill it into insights which the company or business can use in order to elevate and improve products, innovation or services.

This technique is used to help organisations, businesses and even governments.

In order for this to be effective a large group of people would be needed to help sample and filter information which is relevant to what the company. This information will be off consumer opinions and needs. A lot of studies have been used to build it some being psychology, marketing, ergonomics, anthropology and user interface. All three of theses methods are quite self explanatory.

Qualitive comes from quality. This information would be answers with in depth understanding. Questions such as Why, How and What should be used. To gain a better understanding of the users judgement and reasoning. The information's value isn't represented in numbers.

Quantitively is all about numbers and statistics. Relying more on large amounts of people. If a large quantity of people agree/ vote on a similar thing the company need to find the correct response/ solution to the want/ need of their consumers.

Observation testing all relies on the representative users.
These people are those can know enough about user needs, opinions, struggles, and preferences to serve as a proxy for them.  This method can be used to see if the users can finish any task you've given them, see if its too advanced or use friendly and use the information given to help making quality of life changes to help the overall experience.

Collect: Gathering all the information. Did you use more than one strategy in order to get the information. Qualitive or Quantitive?

Analyse and Understand: Find the pattern in the information given. Is something recurring? If so is that the real negative?

Communicate: Give feedback to the board. Tell them what needs to be done and how it will be done. Create a time frame for improvement. This makes newer companies want to work with them due the higher ups working with them. You could say its somewhat of a stamp of approval. That the people at Futures Laboratory know what they're doing.

Strategy Department: This consists of Foresight reports and Strategy services.
