Internationalization as a vehicle for the construction of a global citizenship

Today's learning focused on the use and potential of the eTwinning platform and the process of internationalization of school institutions.

The eTwinning platform was not exactly a novelty. It seems to me to be a tool that is widely disseminated among the educational community but, as has been observed, of modest use at school. Participating in an eTwinning project is the best way to realize the full potential of the tool. Even so, I have realized some areas that I haven't explored yet, such as the joining of groups of themes or disciplinary areas, and that I will do in the future.

The theme of internationalization was what motivated me the most. In our institution we have a European Development Plan. I wondered whether it should not be an "International Development Plan"? The internationalisation of educational institutions makes perfect sense. The introduction of the subject of internationalization in the curriculum also makes perfect sense. We are preparing future societies that will invariably live in global citizenship. We reflect on the stages of an internationalization process, its objectives, assumptions, goals, strategies, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Drawing up an internationalization plan allowed for the sharing of good practices among course participants. The sharing of ideas was very interesting. Among the many shared internationalization activities I would like to highlight: the creation of a network of international partners made up of schools and teachers, to develop common projects and share information; the implementation and development of projects on an international scale; the awareness of the existence of ambassadors of international initiatives in the institution; the existence of a coordination of international projects and activities; the operationalization of projects and activities in a sustained and structured way; the participation in MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) offered by organizations such as the Schoolnet Academy and the School Education Gateway; the use of the Europeana database.
Internationalization is preparing citizens and a society for globalization while strengthening the sense of common belonging and increasing respect for diversity, independence and national identity of each country.

Playing music from other cultures is an excellent internationalization activity that can be developed in an eTwinning project...

Internationalisation is a process rooted in our daily lives. Its impact increases according to the scale of circulation of people, goods, products and services. Schools are the mirror of the society in which we live, increasingly heterogenic and varied in contexts, structures, forms and levels of practice, which enrich learning environments, inviting us to be virtual and real global citizens. In the sharing of good practices, the impact of internationalisation on the life of our schools is well present and represented through curricular, complementary and extracurricular activities. In this process of internationalization, the arts express globality without borders, sounds and musical rhythms teach us states of mind, awakening new perspectives on the world around us.

I learned some new facts and tools about etwinning and what I found quite inspriring was the idea to use etwinning for smaller projects that only last for a couple of weeks or even just some days. I guess that this will be quite motivating for the students and it is also possible to incorporate that into the normal lessons.
Besides, I really enjoyed the GwoKa session and the way that everyone contributed to a really fun experience.
